Movie Edit Pro 2022 is now called Movie Studio 2022 which is what you may get with the upgrade - it is still the same program and will overwrite 2021 by default, there is no need to uninstall 2021 first.
Graham, be warned: the Section effect in MEP 2022 has a bad bug; it just doesn't work properly. The effect in 2021 works perfectly. I'm waiting until Movie Studio (MEP) 2023 comes out shortly to see if Section is fixed before I upgrade.
I have just decided to upgrade from Editor 2021 to Movie Studio 2022. Surely I don't have to wait and pay another subscription to have a major bug corrected. I would have thought that if there is a bug in Movie Studio 2022 Magix will issue and update to Movie Editor 2022 that fixes the bug. That is the way most software companies work. Upgraded add new features that one has to pay for. I am a home user and very much amateur so I don't want to pay out next year another sum of money to fix a bug in sotware I have just paid for. Hopefully some one from Magix itself and reassure me. But thanks for the post
There have been a lot of bugs that have never been addressed and some that come and go between releases.
Once a new version comes out there are no more updates to the older software. Love it or hate it, that is the way most software is developed now. People think software fixes should be easy but it gets harder as the generations of development progress. Often some bugs are not fixed if there are other methods of achieving the same effect.
Also don't expect older projects to be 100% compatible with the newer software. Often effects are changed or replaced and sometimes removed altogether. If you are using the main concept encoder you will lose that was well with MEP 2022 and it is not coming back as far as I know.
