I exported a video and named it MapCircleDkGrnLg.wmv. (MXV does not display useful thumbails here.)
As I often do, I'd forgotten that MEP always selects the Video+Audio option by default. (Apparently not smart enough to recognise there is no audio.) To avoid always having to manually delete the audio object, I re-exported, this time with just Video, over-writing the original.
When I open that it still displays the redundant audio object. Closing and re-opening MEP to a fresh project doesn't help. I was forced to change its name to MapCircleDkGrnLrg.wmv.
MEPP 2017 (latest) opens MapCircleDkGrnLg.wmv correctly. But it may well have the same problem if the same steps are followed to create a file.
Same issue with MXV (and I expect with MPG, MP4, etc).
Reminiscent of similar 'false memory retention' bugs over the years, when cropping/resizing image objects.
