Are you are trying to record your film on a Blu ray player? If the answer is yes, It is not Magix fault. I had the same problem.
Windows 8 is compiled with a 64 bit processor. Your BluRay player is running on 32 bit processing firmware. 64 Bit firmware is not understood by the writer, so it turns the writer off, hence your error . Bring down the 64 Bit firmware for your player, or get your supplier to change it. It will then run perfectly.
