Is it worth continuing to invest in Magix Software

DesertSweeper wrote on 5/7/2026, 11:23 AM

I have various Magix products and usually upgrade every two iterations to keep up with things but with all the recent financial woes and tickets rarely being resolved, is it perhaps time to find new replacements for video and audio apps? Why should I upgrade from VPX15 to VPX16 for example? Will it be supported....

@DesertSweeper I guess the software will still work over the next couple of years. How often there will be updates needs to be seen, maybe once a year a new version and then a bugfix update in the middle of its lifetime. It was the same back when Magix still released software on CD.

On the other hand, it may become similar to Corel Videostudio, which is still available but hasn't been updated for a couple of years by now.

I don't think you need to rush to another software as long as you can work comfortably with VPX15.

@DesertSweeper

As @SP. writes, the standard update cycle for Magix products seems to still be "active". At least, nothing has been said to suggest otherwise.

However, in direct answer to your question, the current latest version of VPX is 17, not 16. It will be interesting to see whether VPX18 appears later this year!

Hi so in order to solve the infamous "Could not find part of the program" error I installed the VPX17 trial thanks to a tip from @johnbaker which solved the issue. SO I will invest in Magix for a while longer as learning Resolve, for me, is just a nightmare. My question is there are two versions of 17 - the "classic" and the "ultimate" and the only thing that caught my eye about the "ultimate" is the feature mentioned as "Exclusive travel content" - is that the same as the "Travel Maps" that comes with various flavours of Studio I already have?

Hi

On the Store tab open the Themepacks category and select The Ultimate Travellers Pack, there you will find what is included.
