Is there a Standard PAL 1080p25 Blue-ray format?

My VPX6 timeline (and footage) is 720p25. I want to burn a 1080 p or i Blu-ray disc. Not 720, because 1080 is requested.

In the Blu-ray burn dialogue, Mpeg2 option, there's a standard called Standard PAL 1920 x 1080 25p. Is that actually a playable Blu-ray standard? I decide to give it a go, but in Advanced Settings, it says (in red colour) that the Audio format is incorrect. I don’t know how PCM 48KHz could be wrong, but to avoid a burn problem, I back out of there.

Now, in the H.264 Blu-ray dialogue, I see 1080i50. This shows no audio format error, but there's a slider that says 'long playback, low quality' at the left and 'slow playback, high quality' on the right. If I move the slider to the right the 30,000 approaches the max of 40,000 making the bitrate constant. I understand that the higher the bitrate the better the quality, but the 'slow playback' has me stumped. Also, surely H.264 should require a lower bitrate than the 29,000 specified for Mpeg2 Blu-ray?

Any discernment of all the above greatly appreciated.

In a nutshell - if you want a disc that will play on almost any PAL BD player, use h.264, Blu-ray 1920 * 1080i PAL (default) options and do not change any of the advanced settings or the bitrate - it is not recommended to increase the bitrate to maximum as this can render the disc unplayable - not all BD players support the higher bitrates.

The presets are already optimised for the format and codec used, the only time you may need to adjust the bitrate is if the video will not fit on the disc in which case it has to be lowered. The bitrate for h.264 1920 *1080i PAL is 18000 kbit/s by default.

For h.264 1920 *1080i PAL, it actually defaulted to 26,384 kbit/s, so I just left it at that. But you reckon 18,000 kbit/s is safer?

Any comment on the Blu-ray Mpeg2 1920*1080p25 setting?

I believe the 18000k number comes from the 1920*1080 NTSCp24 setting, as that's the number I usually see, so it may only be 'safer' (or recommended) for a differing spec.
