Is there a way to increase the cache?

Hi.

If you have plenty of free space on your C: drive for the temp swap files to be created (You still haven't stated how much free space is on the C: drive) as those files cannot be written anywhere else and can get huge.

Then try checking the CPU usage using Task manager while the project runs to see if there is a large spike in the CPU usage as according to TechPoweUp your CPU only uses PCIe Express gen3 while your graphics card is gen4. That could be creating a bottleneck in performance. Is it a permanent freeze or does it clear? I cannot duplicate your problem with your files despite your graphics card being more powerful than my own.

I tried that thanks Gid. Got loads of free RAM. Even with AVG running at next to nothing. all Drivers are up to date too.

Thanks CubeAce. the C drive is running on a Kingston 1TB unpartitioned M2. NVME. The RAM is Corsair Vengeance DDR4 32gb.

@Steve-Jones3743 Ok, well it's hard to pin point it, as has been mentioned so apologises for the repeat -

You shouldn't be having this problem with your pc specs,
Your GPU driver is up to date,
I don't know if you've restarted MMS.
There's options in File - Settings - Program - Device options where you can select CPU or GPU, does it make any difference if you change these?
If your mentioned media isn't the problem does this happen if you try other media or move your media to the other drive?
Windows itself has Storage option where old or temp files can be cleared.
Try turning off/disabling your internet & then your security, with your internet off you'll be safe to turn off AVG or any other security., Just in case it is interfering in some way.
I have Magix in the Allowed list, I don't remember putting it there or if it makes any difference.. 🤷‍♂️ (Edit - that is MMS 2024, MEP 2022 is also in that list but I'm on MMS 2025 now which isn't in that list, I don't know if because an older one is in the other most recent one is also included in the 'ok' category)

No need to apologise Gid. I appreciate your assistance. I have tried just about everything there. The only thing not tried is turning off the security. It is AVG. I have considered that AVG might have caused a fault with the installation. So I might uninstall MMS. Clear out the cache and any temp files and reinstall with AVG turned off. maybe tomorrow afternoon now.

@Steve-Jones3743 If it is a dodgy install for whatever reason maybe a reinstal would be better. I've never had to do that & I've read that if the old version isn't removed correctly it can cause other problems, @johnebaker would be able to advise on that procedure 👍

Hi Gid,

I have done an entirely fresh install. I cleared the cache and emptied the temp folder. Apparently the recommendation is to remove previous versions first. So I need not have installed the 24 version on the new PC first. I also turned off AVG. I haven't had time to give it a real try but it does appear to be working better. I will know better tomorrow afternoon. Neither the zoom nor the fade caused the programme to freeze on what little I did.
