Just Got Music Maker and Need To Ask A Question

kenesp wrote on 11/25/2013, 1:56 PM

Hi everyone. Are the loops on Music Maker usable for a personal CD? My wife composed a song with the loops and now would like to add her voice tracks to the music. Could she make the CD and sell them... or use them on a video of herself singing and sell the DVD?

Thanks for any help. This is unfamiliar territory for us and we don't want to do the wrong thing.

Hello Storychoice102. Not sure what you meant by...... "Well Ken, I think your wife doesn't know how to sell CD's, but somebody does."

My question was not about how to sell CDs. My question was... is she allowed to construct a song using the loops or soundpools on CDs or DVDs, add her voice and then sell them?

Thanks

Ken

Hi,

Please disregard Storychoise 102's post.  This person seems to post the most bizarre answers to pretty simple questions.

As for selling or any commercial use, much has been written on the topic.  Simply speaking if you have the standard consumer license you have no commerial rights at all, if you have the pro license you have some commercial rights.  I am not a Magix employee (nor is anyone else on this user forum) and I am not a copyright lawyer, but if you read the EULA (End User License Agreement) for the version you purchased you should be able to see what rights you do and don't have.  If you either don't understand the agreement or are considering proceeding anyway, you are best off to consult a copyright attorney in your country of residence.

For more information on this topic, see this thread

@ Storychoice 102 are you a copyright attorney?  I am not but I have read the EULA and the consumer agreement specifically prohibits commercial use of soundpools and loops.  Maybe you know something that I don't so please enlighten me.  Where in the agreement is commercial use permitted.
