Just updated to 17.02.158, now cannot exit the program.

Title says it all.

MEP Premium 2018 version 17.02.158, on my machine, completely attempts to exit the program. This is whether it's via the X on top right, or the file menu. I have to issue a "taskkill /im videodeluxe.exe /f" from the command prompt to exit the program. Certainly not ideal.

This is on a fully patched, internet connected, Windows 10 (1709) 64bit machine.

I restored the contents of the "C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\2018" using a backup to revert to version 17.0.1.148 and this exits correctly. Reapplied the update and the problem returns. I am staying on 17.02.158 as I al confident that this can be resolved.

I have already sent a support request to Magix Support, but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue.

I edited the "Videodeluxe.ini" file in the "C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Videodeluxe24_premium" folder to completely remove the "[NewsFeedControl]" section. This section gets recreated when MEP runs again, but it corrects itself.

Now the program exits normally.

Thanks for the heads up

The updates have killed a project file I was working on - corrupted sound on certain tracks and my system resources have almost vanished :( - the only way I can exit premium is via Ctrl-Alt-Del :(

I assume its possible to roll back?

Simply load the last back file you have (the program recognise it as a normal file ) the save as... and work! ;)

@TimDay

I assume its possible to roll back?

Regrettably, I think not. (And I feel your pain. For me the .158 update produced the same problem as the OP posted and the .159 patch would not install because the .158 version failed to close without using Ctrl+Alt+Del, which also closed the Updater 😡)

I think the only thing you can do, which is exactly what I am having to contemplate, is removing MEP, using the method detailed in this tutorial and then attempting a reinstall. Not a happy situation.

@ILoboAudiovisual

The question is about rolling back MEP to prior to the latest update. Merely reloading a previous version of any ,mvp project file will not achieve this.

Hi

@TimDay

If you are lucky the update file - Vdlx2018_Premium_Update_17.0.2.159.exe - will have been left in the following folder:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\MAGIX\UPS

where Username is the name you use to log on to the computer.

If it is you should be able to run the update without having to open MEP.

Fully updated but sick to death of bugs :( after re-assembling my entire project from scratch I eventually published. With new projects the program continues to freeze (often when adding to the timeline). I find it so frustrating that I had no issues previously.

Time to write off my my investment in the software and move to something else.

Still cannot exit program normally.  17.0.2.159 on Windows 7.  I have to use task manager.  :(
