Hi, I'm new to MMM and wish to buy a keyboard that will work with it and allow me to play various instruments, VST's, I see a lot of questions about various keyboards that people have, can give me a recommendation for a small keyboard that will work? I know that MMM ofers it own keyboard but it is to big for me.

Thanks

Hi

Difficult to answer - everyone has their own opinions as to which is the best!

If the Magix keyboard is too large then you nedd to be looking at a 25 key keyboard.

My advice would be buy a well known brand eg Roland, M-Audio, Korg etc and don't buy cheap .  Get a mid price range keyboard or better - they will last longer.

Basic things to look for are :

  1. Velocity sensitve keys - the faster/harder you press them the louder the resultant notes.

  2. Mod and Pitch bend wheels.

  3. Pitch up/down buttons

  4. Keyboards with pads and functions which may not work with MMM.

If you can pop down to your local music store and see what they have and try them for the feel of the keys, quality of build etc.  You may pay a little more but at least you have the knowledge that they are local if any problems arise.

Many thanks John, this is very helpful.

One last question, on MMM, either basic or premium,

Is it possible to creat a chord progression to which I can add tracks that would sync with?

I found this in Band In Box and Gsrage band. Simply define a chord progression and assign to it various rhythms and styles and play/record along with it.

Thanks in advance
