Lack of sound

Ossie-Arciniega wrote on 10/23/2021, 2:24 PM

Hi, I'm new to Magix Movie Edit Pro, I bought the app because it looked easy to work with. Now, my problems started when I upload my videos to Magix and discovered they have no sound. I have been looking through the forum posts to see if someone had the same problem but apparently I'm the only one. Any suggestions?

Greetings and welcome.

You've given us all a bit if a problem in that we are not quite sure what version of Movie Edit Pro you are using, what type of video file you are trying to open and what you system has installed.

Can I suggest you read this:

and then we can get started.

I get muted sections when i just split a clip.

right click the speaker of the clip, audio functions, and it may say “restore original audio”

you may need to do it multiple times.

and then click it again and go to audio functions, set volume, then set it to something.

im using movie edit pro plus 20.0.1.80 on windows 10 and it is glitchy and weird as can be.

A lot of simple edits start doing annoying side bs that you have to fiddle with to get to somewhat work.

ive edited one video, and it causes a lot of swearing.

Hi

@me_again provided a link to the information we require - we need more information, as detailed in the post linked to, about:

  1. your computer hardware, please quote the processor, graphics card/chipset and audio chipset/device make /model in full.

  2. the source of the video files, including a MediaInfo analysis of one that is causing the issue - see this short tutorial on how to set up and analyse a video clip with MediaInfo.

Hi,

Actually, there have been a lot of threads about problems with either sound not being heard or video not showing but the sound is ok. Most of the time, there are problems with either the source material, in particular, video recordings from cell phones and certain screen recording programs, both with variable frame rates.

So, can you please give us the source info and analysis using Media Info as requested by John EB.

Did you try files from other sources?

Did you try the Demo project?

Can you give us a screen shot of your settings, Playback tab?

@Johnmark-Hatfield

Hi,

Just so that you and others know, you have MEP2021 Plus. I have the same version and patch.

I get muted sections when i just split a clip.

right click the speaker of the clip, audio functions, and it may say “restore original audio”

you may need to do it multiple times.

and then click it again and go to audio functions, set volume, then set it to something.

See above points and provide the info requested.

Splitting a clip will not mute any part of it. Semantics, but there is a difference between muting and not having any sound.

Are you importing video clips with video and audio on separate tracks? If not, I suggest that you do so. You can change the parameter for this in Program Settings. If already on a track, select the video and use the shortcut Ctrl+H and AV will be on separate tracks, but still grouped. Do you see the wave form? If not, right click and apply Show waveform or use the shortcut Shift+E.

Now split the clip at a few points.

For what you say is a section that is muted, this would mean that the centre handle of the audio part is right at the bottom. Is it?

Do you see any "sections" with no waveform but that had a waveform before?

RESTORE AUDIO

This is only required if you have AV on separate tracks and you delete the audio part. In order to get the audio back, you apply Restore Audio. This has nothing to do with your problem as far as I can tell.

If your video clip is from something that gives a highly variable frame rate, then this could be the cause.

A lot of simple edits start doing annoying side bs that you have to fiddle with to get to somewhat work.

ive edited one video, and it causes a lot of swearing.

I have been using MEP2021 Plus for more than a year and have not encountered any major problems. That said, could you be more specific? "simple edits start doing annoying side bs" really does not tell us much.

Hi.

Try going to Windows Settings / system / sound, and on the right hand side click on the blue Sound Control Panel and check the settings for all inputs and outputs are set to 24 bit 48kHz and close.

Then go to the next settings in blue on the right. 'Microphone privacy settings'.

Make sure that 'Allow apps to access your microphone' is set to On.

If you are worried about privacy you can turn all other options below that to Off.

Below that set 'Allow desktop apps to access your microphone' to On.

Come out of Windows settings and see if you get your audio trouble free.

Come back and let us know if it worked.

Ray.

Hi Ossie.

I also wonder if this could be the problem?

If that applies to VPX 13 it inevitably applies to MEP 2022 as well.

If that is the case then you may not be able to use hardware acceleration for now.

Hi

. . . . I also wonder if this could be the problem? . . . .

Unlikely, the problem is with importing the video, not exporting.

The source video is the most likely cause - we need the MediaInfo data.

All video is from a canon m50. The audio works, and then i split it, and the audio is un hearable. Yes, technically not muted.

I can’t find how to make the audio viewable, but it does disassociate with the video as i hear audio doubling to create a phase disturbance sound at times. I hear audio from the last clip over the audio from the displayed clip. I was solely in story board mode getting the audio cuts, and i really like timeline mode as i’m much more used to audio editors, but i feel like ive clicked every button and scrolled through all options to view the audio separate and cannot. It seems to stay connected automatically, but in a few instances where ive shifted clips around, they overlap audio even when the video is not.

i have an amd ryzen 5 4500U with radeon graphics 2.38 ghz and 8g ram

I don’t have the internet on the editing computer so i can’t run the tool unless i go somewhere else.

Hi,

I can’t find how to make the audio viewable...

You have to use Timeline mode.

I gave you the instructions:

You can change the parameter for this in Program Settings. If already on a track, select the video and use the shortcut Ctrl+H and AV will be on separate tracks, but still grouped. Do you see the wave form? If not, right click and apply Show waveform or use the shortcut Shift+E.

Please watch my tutorial on Everything Audio Part 1 to see how to get the audio on a separate track and the waveform...and more.
