Ah, ok. I thought they were essentially the same thing, but in different countries. Fwiw, they both have the same NewBlue TotalFX offer, which expires today. This naming change thing is kinda weird...
Gid, if you click on each of the links you showed, you'll soon find that the two programs are exactly the same. It's Movie Edit Pro (until the forthcoming name change). Presumably, there is a separate link in the Vegas section to make people think they are getting a Vegas product.

@AAProds Patronising, - yep i know they are very similar, I only have MEP Premium (MEP since 2004) so i can't say whether they're exactly the same but the two links show very different pages, unless i was scrutinous i would easily believe they were different products,
In your reply to @AAProds you wrote that what Al said was:
Patronising,
I don't know how Al feels about that description but I, for one, feel it was completely uncalled for! Please do not use the forum to make potentially offensive remarks to other users. Thank you.
It has been known for some time that Magix Movie Studio and Magix Movie Edit Pro were the "same program" under different names. Now it has been officially announced that the two are "becoming one" under the name of Movie Studio.
Nope - it has been removed from the Vegas Creative website.
And from Magix.com too; complete rewrite of the site today. The new layout also has two clearly defined sections for subscribing and below that, outright purchase.
All registered users of MEP will have had an email about the name change so there should be no confusion there, new users will move straight into the MS name sphere.
The news popup with the latest offer is also correct, however the popup in an older program version is not, it still refers to MEP 2022.
I bought this upgrade yesterday. Whilst I am glad to say I got TotalFX just fine, I genuinely didn't realise there would be no updates with this MEP version. Every previous purchase came with (at least) one year of update service. My download is also still "MEP" not Movie Studio, whilst I understand both will be the same for now, it does mean I have chosen badly in retrospect... As I already had a working version of MEP from last year, with fewer bugs than this one, but that has now been deleted and replaced by this other one with no possibility of fixing the bugs, I have bought this version "as is" (from what I can tell? Happy to be corrected if wrong.)
I should have bought the subscription for a year, as I would have got the same software, similar price AND a year of updates (plus TotalFX is still included with that!) So, wasn't last chance yesterday and I could have got those NewBlue plugs today along with active updates for the main software AND the bundled access to Storyblocks and future stuff etc etc.
So I do commend Magix on making the subscription the sensible option, whilst having an alternate option, but based on how things appeared yesterday (and have been for years) I was led towards the wrong choice. It is not so bad really, I am not going to lay it on thick! I got TotalFX, have to just be happy with that, but I could have got TotalFX anyway without needlessly buying a dead upgrade! That is all. I can obviously start some sort of subscription to get the next updates and access to the footage service etc, but I could have just done that without wasting the money I spent yesterday! Would have all the same stuff.
But again, not wanting to whine, I am a loyal and happy user of Magix software in general, but there has been some confusion regarding the different versions and changing of policies etc, which meant I made the wrong decision. The urgency to jump in quick before the TotalFX offer disappeared obviously clouded my judgment! Didn't feel I had the time to fully research every option etc.
You should get updates. I have just downloaded an update after the purchase of MEP for the Total FX pack. What we don't get is the additional odd package from the store which I can live without. Also remember if you don't then resubscribe you lose the benefit of use of the software whereas you can keep using your version after the year is up without having to get the next version. The other drawback is if you remove the software after your year is up, you don't get the updates released after the date you bought the software. Then you can lose the update patches.
I am totally on board with your way of thinking, absolutely. That is why I have happily updated every other year and would continue to do so, but confirmation email said nothing about update service this time. Reading through the pros/cons of different versions, on Magix purchase site, I couldn't find any assurance of updates outside of the subscription options. You may be right and can still update for a year as normal, I am not sure as I say. Thanks for response either way.
You will still get updates, but not upgrades, like to MEP2023 or rather MS2023 when it comes out, as far as I know. This was my main reasoning behind not paying for another upgrade to the same version, just to get NB TotalFX. Also, after reading many negative comments about Titler Pro7 and having many NB effects that I almost never use, I decided to abstain.
I'm actually finding NB Titler Pro 7 to be a lot better than 6. It' a bit of a processor hog but very versatile. More like the Boris offering but different. I have taken to it like a duck to water. Still getting the hang of the animation section but understand moving parts to background or foreground. I like the texture offerings a lot.
I also don't like the idea that on subscription you could go from the last stable, bugs mainly fixed, to a new possibly bug ridden new version.
Thanks for info. So I can assume/hope updates will come, though not actually guaranteed. Would make sense for Magix to at least continue updates of specific numbered versions (as opposed to one year from purchase as before) as should be able to expect a fully updated "working" version of any yearly software purchased.
I think I can be relatively OK with that, if so, as I just want the bugs squashing, get things fully stable as they were in my deleted version. The new update does have some good things in it regarding CPU/GPU optimisation etc, so will be better overall if/when the issues are ironed out. Then I will not need to subscribe or buy again until a future offer appeals to me, like this one did. I always update in the end, I am content with that habit.
Whilst not wanting to get too negative again, I will just say that Titler Pro7 crashes in MEP and is not useable for me. Previous version was fine, also 7 works standalone. Glad it is working better for some! I will maybe have to persevere with it and experiment with different settings etc. The other NB effects I've tried work great, very happy with them.
Overall, I think if there are some updates to come for main software (with solid fixes for things) then my purchase was OK. Guess we will see.
The only updates to MEP2022/MS2022 that I think will happen will be bug fixes, and there are many to be fixed. The patches will stop as soon as 2023 comes out (or somewhat before that), then the bugs will start again.
Well I can verify we can now export mxv files to other formats again and export to mp3. The rest of the fixes like a lot of the previous ones I never encountered problems with as I probably never did those things to be effected by them. The memory improvements they talk about I don't really notice that much difference.
The exported mov files from 7 can still be imported and used by MSP /MEP although why that is the only export option still is beyond me. It can also export to 4K and the resulting images are very nice. They take my system an age to load and process. The little circular wait icon reminds me of old internet connections buffering but doesn't actually crash.
Hmm, using the link in the original post, I was given the same offer for £41. And still valid with the NB TotalFX when upgrading (and I verified I am entitled to) However the one time purchase do not list the Total FX
