'Layering' - Is there a way of doing this?

Hi...

I'm trying to achieve this effect.

Inside the mouse hole is a green screened animated mouse that pops out and in.

That looks good!

Then I thought I'd add a tv into the 'hole' and have a something playing on it (removing the greenscreen effect on the TV)

I downloaded a greenscreen TV image and put it in the hole!

But when it plays...the mouse is BEHIND THAT PIC I've just added! Hmmmmm

I tried to make the TV picture a background ..but the pic disappeared!

Also..will I struggle when I add some media on the TV to make it look like the TV'S on?

Hope all that makes a bit of sense!

How do I get him in front!!!!!!!!

Hi Davy.

Welcome to the more complex aspects of video editing.

Try looking at this topic I posted some time back that goes through the basics and watch various video results from people that participated.

Thanks Ray! Just had a thought...If I render it in stages ....The TV in the 1st render..

then add the mouse in the 2nd Render! Would that work!? Davy x x

Hi,

Can you give us a screen shot of the timeline with the object that has the mouse selected?

Hi Davy.

Yes. Basically that's it but masking may become a pain depending on what you are doing and clip positioning will need to change if you make one object go around another. It can get as complicated as you want but it can.

A: Do your brain in thinking about it.

B: May mean making masks that are really complex if they need to be animated.

C: Become more and more processor intensive the more tracks you add.

Providing my audience was under six years old I might get away with it 🙂

EDIT: With this small improvement maybe I could make that age seven?

The track placement is causing this issue, track 1 is always the background, after that objects on a higher track number appear in front of those on a lower track.
