lost features with latest premium update

Hello,

I have just updated to latest version of MM Premium and have lost the song maker, some effects, some tonality choices with loops and, it appears, some editability of effects etc. I was tempted to purchase the 2021 edition whilst it was on offer, but glad I didn't. So much for the lifetime of updates. Not much use if certain features get disabled.

Before I uninstall, does anyone know of anything I might have missed during update. All the items credited to my account have been downloaded and installed, but the things mentioned are still missing. The song maker is something I like to use every now and again, but my main issue is that it was a feature I paid for when purchasing Premium and now it has gone. Of course, I can always buy it back again for the new update. [dont think so]

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Hi,

The latest version of MM is 2021. You say that you updated to the latest version of MM Premium but that you didn't purchase the 2021 edition. Those are contradictory statements.

Music Maker is free. You pay for features, presets, instruments and Soundpools either individually or by purchasing Plus or Premium. Look at the comparison table on Magix.com.

If you updated to the latest version of MM, then you have 2021, version 29.0.4.25, which is the new 64 bit version. You were given the opportunity to keep the old version, 32 bit, which you should have done. It contains the old style of Song Maker.

The new version, 2021, contains a completely new Song Maker and you can obtain it by purchasing it separately through the Store or by purchasing 2021 Plus or Premium. The most efficient is Premium. There are other new features required for full use of the new 2021 version of MM.

To make sure that previously purchased versions of features, presets, instruments and Soundpools work in the new 2021 version, activate any old serial numbers. Download and install everything under the Downloads button in the Medial Pool.

Yes, this happened to me as well. I purchased a new computer and was installing my previously purchased MM Premium and all the pools and instruments when I restarted the software the program prompted me to update and I did, not thinking it would update me to a software version that I didn't own. Now I am missing many features that I was used to having in the previous version of MM. I wish Magix would indicate and warn customers that they are downgrading and losing usability before updating versions.

Thanks for comments. I understand the apparent contradiction. I was invited to update MM and chose not to run side by side with old version. I didn't realise this would disable features purchased in older Premium as there is no warning this would happen. I am sure someone will tell me that if you look hard enough a warning was there, but possibly like a few others, i opened program, saw an update available and clicked without realising what was going to happen. Anyway, the nice people at MM support have informed me of the error of my ways and provided a link to reinstall old version. All is now working well alongside new version and some features have carried over as well. There is an argument for better and more visible warning, but overall I cant fault MM for what it can do and will purchase new Premium soon.
