My initial guess in this instance is that the problem lies in where the files are stored but that is a pure guess at present.

A brand new (three day old) Dell Inspiron 17 300 with core i7, 16 gb ram, etc. The Magix 2021 was installed one day ago. It shows, in the import listing, all the HHD's of which there are five externals of 1 TR or greater. The files I need are on drive H...Working Video files...I can not get to them in the import list. I must open the hdd and drag them over to magix.

Hi Jack.

If all the drives are running through a USB hub they may not import via the program. Hubs have unusual affects with some programs and generally slow down access to the drives. If the drive in question is going through such a hub try connecting it directly to the laptop.

The info on the laptop is still vague I'm afraid. If you don't know how to get to that information can you give the model number please as I can't find any information on the Intel CPU with the description you have given.

If this folder is the one you use for all projects media files then you could set the Program Settings, Folders tab, Projects location to that drive/folder - this are my settings:

If you are importing media files from multiple drives the best option would be to to switch the left pane of the Media Pane to Folder tree view

You will then be able to open the relevant drive/folders and see the media in the Media Pane.
