Any thoughts on whether this is a good deal? I'm always looking for decent backing music for my videos, so this seems like a good deal? I don't know what the quality is like though.

@AAProds

Greetings Al, I've not had this offer in the UK but on a personal note, I won't bother with it if it does arrive. I'll explain why.

When I bought MS2025 I had a voucher code for some free downloads from the Store. I had some sound effects and a few sample songs from the various collections. The format that's downloaded is .mxcOGG which seems to be Magix' own format as they don't open in anything except a Magix program.

Sound quality is good but there is, to me, a degree of sameness (is that a word?). Yes the tempos vary, yes the rhythms change, yes some are loud and some are quiet etc etc but there's something I can't quite put my finger on. It could be that the free ones they offered me are meant to all similar even though they come from different collections

Maybe I'm just annoyed; I used to create my own backing tracks using various guitars, keyboards etc until age knackered my fingers.

I suggest you listen to some Magix samples either through the store tab or direct on https://producerplanet.com/gb/audio/songs-396/ if you haven't already done so.

All that being said, it does look a good deal for the quantity of songs available and beauty is in the eye of the beholder (I can't think an audio version of that, there must be one. Let me know 🤓)

Hmm thanks John but I wish I hadn't seen it.

I presume the price Al quoted was $69 Australian dollars which, converted to UK pounds is about £36.

Even in American dollars it's about £51

And they want £69 from the UK? I assume I could buy it in Australian dollars if I wanted the package, which I don't.

Hi,

Andy, it's A$124, Canadian$110.

The music and SF purchased in the Store shows up under the Audio tab as mxcogg files, but all these should also be available in your account on Producer Planet for download as OGG or WAV files, usually both are offered.

The problem is, then what? These are zipped so I unzip them to a location where I keep miscellaneous audio files, under a subfolder - ShopManagerOGGs, for want of originality. I linked the main location in the Import tab list in VPX.

Going OT here but.... However, the Audio tab is more convenient and I usually just import song or sfx from there. This can cause a problem if I start up the project containing an mxcogg file the first time I open VPX for the day. The program has not yet called home to say that I can use these and it stalls on can't find the file. Even navigating to it stalls the program and I have to skip everything, and reload the project - without saving or I lose the song. I usually just go to new project, check that the Audio tab is populated, then open my project.

I thought of just replacing the mxcogg files with the wav or ogg files, but doing that is extremely time-consuming. Take a look at how the songs are stored in the Shop Manager.

Edit: I have 1069 mxcogg files in the Audio tab (Shop Manager folder).

Has anyone come up with an easy solution for replacing the mxcogg files with the ogg/wav files?

The folders all have icon images. Is there any way to find those icons to use them with the folders for the same song folder elsewhere?

Al,

This looks like a good deal. They don't say if the files are ogg or wav, or if you have a choice. I expect that these would not be mxcogg files, as the offering is not linked to a program.

I have so many folders under the Audio tab (42 plus Free Songs), most with many songs that I have never listened to. When I do and under the Audio tab, I give a heart to any that I like. The rating feature is not available under the Import tab, unfortunately.

So, with thousands of songs available on your hard drive, especially if you purchase this package, how do you guys listen to them and rate or annotate them for future use?

Many years ago, I obtained from Magix a CD: Video_&_Slideshow_Sound_Archive_8_INT

containing about a thousand sound effects plus 385 songs of different categories.

We also have Slideshow music with VPX/VDL/Photostory with 240 ogg songs, plus another 800+ ogg loops under Soundtrack Maker Styles.

And, we have access to Audio files - songs and sfx - in the hub.

Mind-boggling.

They are wav files. When I first downloaded them (thinking they were ogg) I contacted support and asked them how to install them. After a while I noticed they were wav files and do not install like their normal audio files. I suggested to support that somewhere along the line they should let the customer know this information.
