Magix Edit Pro 21.0.1.85 crashes after export and make broken movie

Hello. I am using Magix Edit Pro 21.0.1.85 after the last update. I can't export movie correctly. When the exporting bar reaches the end, program stops working for couple of seconds, shutting down and after that launch automatically. There is a movile file with right size but it is damaged. There is black screen with "loading" status bar when I try to play it in VLC. What should I do?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

We need more information:

What is your computer specification - see this topic for details of what is required and please quote the processor and graphics card/chipset make/model in full?

Which export preset are you using and did you change any of the default parameters?

To fix the black screen at startup try restarting the computer - Windows button, Power icon, Restart

If that fails:

  1. Using Windows file explorer browse to the folder in the address bar type in %appdata% and press Enter, see image below:

  2. Open the folder - MAGIX\Videodeluxexx_version - where xx = a 2 digit number and version = nothing, Plus or Premium
     
  3. Locate the file Videodeluxe.ini file and delete it.
     
  4. Start Movie Edit Pro.

Can you post a screenshot of the Program settings, Device options tab?

I suggest you try to update MEP. Help>Update Online...

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

He is talking about the file giving a black screen whilst loading into VLC so that may not help.... but might help MEP crashing during the export and corrupting the file.

  • Magix Edit Pro Premium (21.0.1.87)

I have noticed that when I set Hardware encoding to "Off" (not CPU or GPU) the video saves correctly. Moreover, there is a problem with export to mp3 - only works with wav format. Strange. I have updated Magix to 21.0.1.92 and the problem is the same.

There is no titles at the end, only normal dimm effect.

The MP3 export is a known issue, the only option is to export as wav and then use an audio converter.

Only in 21.0.1.87 or 21.0.1.92 version? Cause I exported 34 episodes of my podcast to mp3 before update and it worked.

Here are two screens with settings and error.

Hi.

I don't think the export to mp3 bug has been fixed yet. It has been a known problem with MEP 2022.

Personally I wouldn't be using Windows 11 just yet. I've seen a lot of problems being reported with graphics drivers malfunctions and program slowdowns. Also Magix has not confirmed compatibility with Win 11 yet.

This is weird. I favorably exported couple files on Windows 11. Maybe the last Dev update messed up something? It's good that at least an export without hardware encoding works.

In theory Windows 11 was supposed to have better performance. In reality users have been reporting a 20% performance drop that involves using nvidia graphics drivers with some programs and games. Others have reported freezing or temporary lockups of some programs. Have a look at some of the moans on YouTube.

Any ideas? Damn, I have no patience to this crap. We have end of 2021 and well-known program for video editing has a problem with mp3 export. Why? That is why people use Mac for these things :)

You keep saying mp3 (audio format) yet the export dialog you have posted a screenshot of is the mp4 video export - which is it?

Is there any way to download previous versions of Magix? For example Edit Pro 2021? I would like to check if the problem is only in 2022 or previous to.

mp3 worked in MEP 2021. It is a new bug in MEP 2022.

There has been no notification on how to roll back to MEP 2021. You will have to contact Magix Directly.
