Magix Movie Edit Pro 2014 Plus- remove blank timeline space

Mallgan wrote on 2/6/2015, 5:53 AM

I am using Magix Movie Edit Pro 2014 Plus and sometimes I get a gap (blank space) between two timiline clips. Is there an easy option which remove these gaps or do I always have to drag the right clip to the left over the gap?

Hi,

There is a trick somewhere, I think, but I don't remember what it is. The best is to not get into the situation in the first place.

Use Ctrl+Del when you delete a clip and the gap will close up. For trimming/cutting, see this message.

See this thread for the trick. I can't get it to work in MEP2015, but it may work in 2014.

Hi

. . . To close all the gaps, apply Cut (no fade) to the first transition and then repeat with Apply to all objects . . .

. . . . I can't get it to work in MEP2015 . . . .

I queried this with Magix when MEP 2015 first came out and the new behaviour is by design!

This IMHO is a retrograde step because it was the quickest way of closing up gaps.

Other changes in behaviour are also there in MEP 2015 compared to previous versions eg

Place two objects with, for example, a 40 frame gap, click the Transition button on the second object and select Crossfade gives:-

  •       old behaviour - second object moves to left and gives a crossfade of 40 frames

  •       new behaviour - second object does not move and gets a fade in of 1sec.

@ JohnCB does VPX6 show the same behaviour as MEP 2015

John

Whoa! I was not expecting this at all.

In VPX6, I had 01:08 between the first and second objects, then different spaces between the next two, maybe 2s+ on one and 3c+ on the other. When I selected cross-fade from the transition menu (on A/B), it made a transition of exactly 01:08 on the first, that is, equal to the gap that was between the two objects. From the A/B menu, apply to following objects on the track, the transitions were made using the space between each object as the transition length. Thus 2+ and 3+ seconds. Extremely strange.

I tried dragging the second object over the first and changing the transition length to 1s and then applying that to the following objects. No difference; they all took on the transition length of the space that was between them.

When all of the objects are abutting, and the second one is dragged over the first one with all of the other objects following (8), applying the transition to the following objects worked correctly. OK, almost. I gave the first one a 1s transition length and everything, including the first one changed to 29f. My frame rate is 29.97fps, and the program round down.

I went back to MEP2015 and you are right, the following objects all get a fade-in and a fade-out of about 1s, and they don't move. Thus the gaps are not closed like in MEP2014 and VPX6.
