Magix Music Maker SE - Can I Record Video Using A Web Cam

Whalebat wrote on 12/12/2011, 7:31 PM

Re-Phrased

I have a  Webcam.

In Magix Music Maker SE (16.0.2.6) how do I record video using the webcam as a video source?

PS

I have rephrased this question a few times as requested by administrator email.

I think it's a reasonable question as the software instructions are poor and disappointing.

I have other Magix software and have had helpful and informative responses.

(Although I did prefer the earlier forum format which I was told would change to a more inhouse supportive format but nothing has happend yet!!)

Of course it could be that Nobody know how to use this software because it's useless!

I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I do have a relevent question....

What leads you to believe Music Maker is able to record video in the first place?

I know it can import some video, but recording video is not it's intended purpose.

You are right about video recording in MMM 16.
In the pdf help file of MMM 16 on page 25 it says
Video recording
In addition to audio recording, MAGIX Music Maker 16 provides a
recording function for video from analog video sources for your own
video clips.

But there isn't any detail how to record. But in MMM 16 Premium
it explain how to record. Read below:

Text copied from MMM 16 Premium pdf help file page No.229

Video capturings
MAGIX Music Maker 16 Premium can be used with all USB cams,
graphic cards, video cards, or video cards that are compatible with
DirectShow. Video recorders or other devices are connected to the video
input of the video card, TV card or graphic card. If your card also possesses
audio ports, these should be used for capturing and playing back
sound so that the image and sound do not diverge during a lengthy
video.

To record from analog sources:
Start MAGIX Music Maker 16 Premium.
Click on “Record Video” and select “Record video”.

In the Video Record-Dialog, select the correct videotape and audio
card driver in case you have several installed on your PC. A video
preview window is displayed immediately.
Name the capturing appropriately so as to be able to find it later.
You can now select the desired video quality with the fader. The
default setting is the highest quality that your PC system is capable
of.

Now start the capturing by pressing the “Record” button – end it by
pressing “Stop”. Be aware of the “Drop Frames” notice. If, for
example, more than 10 dropped frames per minute occur, the
quality of your video will be compromised, and your computer may
be overburdened.
End the video capturing dialog with “OK” You can now view your
capturing in the film bar in the lower third of your screen.
To check the capturing, start the playback by pressing the space
bar.

As I did not use this feature and got no intention to use it either. Therefore, please try the above method if that works or not.

Hope this answer will help you.

Thanks for the reply.
I can’t find a “Video Record” button within my version.
See Image at end of text.

It’s possible that video recording is only supported in the Premium Version.
In the same way screen capture is suppored in MEP Plus software but not MEP software.

It’s irrelevant wether you would choose to use the video record feature.
It’s mentioned in the instruction of my version so should be an available option.

I can see the advantage to recording a muscian audio and video simultaneously and have the audio editing features of Music Maker available compared with the audio editing features available in MEP software..... rather than jumping between two applications..... creating more unnecessary work consolidate the power of MEP Plus and Music Maker in one application..... unless I am overlooking something?

I would appreciate further advice reagrding the version I have as shown in the image below.

Thanks In Advance.
