I'm not sure why I choose the 'export to device' option rather than the 'save video as' option, but I know there is a reason.
I think when I initially tried to save files as .mp4s there wassome kinda of issue, and so I instead used the export to device option to save all my videos, in mp4 format.

I'm only saving the video to my laptop though (has approx 80GB spare capacity left), so the size shouldn't be an issue at all, as the video is only 1.3gb (12mins length),
and i've previously used magxi to save dozens of these same videos in this exact same way before, so not sure what the issue is with this one now. :/


I have a slightly different version of that same video (my copyright-logoed version, which is 20seconds longer), and so I'm trying to save that one to my laptop now - Hopefully magix wont messup again now.
 

Just one further thought, following from you wrote and John EB's comments on not using the Export to Device feature:

You say your exported file is 1.3GB in total, but becomes two files, one running for 10:30 and one for 1:30. Taking John's comments "a little further" I would speculate that whichever "device" you chose, MEP believes that it cannot handle individual files larger than c.1GB; hence, the two files being created. A similar situation pertains when you export to DVD; each separate .vob file will be about 1GB.

Ok well extremely annoying Magix still is having this malfunction by which it's incapable of saving any video file bigger than 2GB!!

This never happened for the previous months, only started when I accepted the latest software update yesterday, and so the only explanation is that Magix's MEP software now is limited to saving videos of 2GB size!

However Magix have declined to mention that fact anywhere!


Does anyone know how to roll-back to the previous version of MEP (before they added this latest update)??
As this update clearly is causing the problem!

I just exported one of my video to a single 4.60 GB (4,940,689,408 bytes) MPG. Guess my MEP version is still working as advertised and not lamed.

I'll re-check once I get home, but I know the laptop's hard-drive is NTFS which is able to handle files bigger than 4GB.

Plus I've already got videos on the laptop which are over 2.5GB size and they are fine, so the fault must be with MEP.

I will email support this evening once I get home, and hopefully they will be as to fix this issue.

I will give ''Export Movie'' a go tonight and see if that works.

Not sure why it'd make any difference, as the settings will be the same, but it's worth a shot.

And I save to desktop as standard, then move videos into folders from there.
Could save directly into a folder, although not sure if that'd impact it at all?

Ok well i've followed your advice and an currently exporting via the 'save as mp4' option,
rather than the 'export to device' one.
I have set all the settings of bitrate and everything else the same though.

*However I haven't ticked the 'multiplexer streamable' box this time, as i've got now clue what that means, or know if that could be what caused this problem?

I have also created a folder on my desktop (called Magixes) and have selected that as the destination for the video to be saved to.


So hopefully this will now work,
although I still am extremely confused about what is causing this currently; as none of my settings/or laptop seem to be the culprit.

When you export to a device.... for example a DVD player, it may use the lowest possible filesystem for a DVD, which have a max of 2 GB file size, depending on the ISO filesystem version/revision (may be the 1st revision). This ensures that your DVD produced will work on the worst DVD player out available.

While Exporting to a MP4 format, it will not make such assumption of DVD size and provide a single large file.

Ahh thankyou mate, your explanation like that makes perfect sense. :)

I guess for some reason MEP was incorrectly assuming that my device wouldn't be able to handle an MP4 larger than 2GB, and so was slicing the file into smaller chunks.

I'm delighted to announce that using the 'save as mp4' tab has worked though. :)

Why do you insist on using "Export to device" and not simply "Export Movie," select "Video as mp4," click on "Display all" and select the output format that you want? As was mentioned, this may be causing your problem.

Happy to announce that using this 'save to mp4' tab seems to of worked.

I will check the video once I'm back home from work tonight, but the file is a single mp4 file of 2.2gb, and 26k bitrate, so all seems to be fine with it.
