Magix Sold Sound Forge!

Hi!

I've been using Sound Forge since v5.0 (Sonic Foundry).

I've bought v15 & v17 from Magix.

However, I've always complained about the fact that both versions are hi-DPI incompatible! (They look bad on 4K displays).

Recently Boris FX bought Sound Forge, Vegas & ACID Pro from Magix. Maybe they'll improve Sound Forge!

There is a new Sound Forge forum on Boris FX as well. Not much activity there though.

I do not know if there are plans to eliminate the Magix SF forum. The 'Vegas Creative Software' (Magix) forum is gone.. though the URL is the same and redirects to the BFX forums.

Sound Forge under Boris FX has less activity because the priority is Vegas, just like during the Magix era. But I hope Boris FX can fix some of Sound Forge's bugs.

Magix will keep supporting the legacy software (everything that's been released prior to 2026).

Yeah.

Let's just hope that newer Sound Forge versions will be better than the ones released in the Magix era.

Magix will keep supporting the legacy software (everything that's been released prior to 2026).

Supporting here just means that you can download and install it. They will be no bugfixes or anything like that.

Exactly.

(On Boris FX site, it says that it's the responsibility of Magix to still provide support for the old versions. Even bug fixes).

I've created a Boris FX account.

Now, my license of Sound Forge Audio Studio v17 is visible in my account.

(However, I also own a license of Sound Forge Audio Studio v15, but that one is not visible in my Boris FX account).

@Endre-Nagy I believe they only add one license manually, otherwise it would take them too long to add everything for thousands of users. The license is only there so that you can buy a price reduced upgrade to the newest Boris FX version. Without a previous license it wouldn't be possible to buy an upgrade in their online store.

I've read Boris FX allows upgrades from any(!) previous version until December 2026. After that, you probably won't be able to do this, if your purchase of Audio Studio longer than 4 years ago.
