@William-Porter Hi,

I'm trying to pull a movie clip from a project by deleting a section of the video before the scenes to keep and after the scenes to keep.

At the bottom of the preview window there are options - Remove start etc.. But the easiest wat is to place the cursor where you want to remove the start & press Z on the keyboard. To cut the clip where the cursor is press T on the keyboard then click on the unwanted part & click Delete on the keyboard (or click the bin/delete button at the bottom of the preview window). & to remove the end from where the cursor is press U on the keyboard. (you can also just drag the ends of the object on the timeline to make it shorter or back to the length it was after you've trimmed some off)

Also, how do I reduce the project timeline after the scenes are deleted.

You can simply click & drag the remaining scene after cutting off the start & end, or at the bottom of the preview are 'Mouse modes', these are ripple options, ie if you are in Single mouse mode after you cut the start nothing happens, in Mouse mode for Single track & All tracks after you remove the start the clip to the right of the cursor will snap to the left closing the gap.

PS. There are Tutorials at the top of this page, most are from earlier versions of Magix but the information will still be relevant as the program has hardly changed, this is the link to Movie Studio tutorials https://www.magix.info/us/video-tutorials/movie-studio/

Thanks again. I started with Sony Movie Studio then Sony Movie Studio Platinum in 2012 then to Magix Movie Studio 16 and then 2023. There have been a lot of changes and I'm just now able to start playing with 2023.

There have been so many changes that I'm glad you linked the videos. Thanks again!

Hi.

Welcome to the user to user forums for non Vegas products.

If you last had Movie Studio 16 then at that point it was still a Vegas branded program which Vegas terminated permanently at version 17 to concentrate on the Pro versions of the product.

The reason you see so many changes is it is no longer the program you once used but an updated version of the Magix editor Movie Edit Pro which in itself has recently had two further name changes.

The workflow you were used to is now only found in the Vegas Pro packages.

It may take time to get used to the new workflow but it is a capable video editor.

For more information on what happened you may want to visit here.

Ray.

Thanks! I thought I was in the Twilight Zone! So, I'll just start over. I have several projects in the works for friends and I have spent the last two weeks wondering where I was! Your analysis makes me feel much better!
