When I am finished with my project and ready to make a movie the software closes each time. It doesn't do this when I try on my desktop but it does every time when using my laptop. I have to uninstall and reinstall several times.

This is something I've never seen mentioned before and sounds more like there may be a problem with the way you set up the projects folder and the way the export has been set.
Before I answer your problem it is always a good idea to give as much information as you can. Not only about the problem but the version of the program you are using, your operating system, and the specifications of the machine you are experiencing your problems on.
That Said.
When people ask the computer to uninstall a program it normally still resides on your hard drive so a reinstallation becomes more of a repair rather than a clean install. So all your previous settings can be recalled by the program when activated again.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the program seldom helps as often, unless you do a thorough job of removing all files relating to MEP, when you reinstall the program, it will just pick up where it left off with all your previous settings intact.
I suspect that in the export section of MEP you have at some point ticked the box telling MEP to shut down at the end of exporting.
Also, that you have selected in the setup project menu that you have selected to use the settings for all future projects.
I could be wrong about all of this but from your brief description and lack of details, that would be my best guess.
