Markers For Frames Have Disappeared in Timeline!!

TheArtfulDodger wrote on 5/1/2014, 9:20 AM

Hello:

I have been using MEP since MEP 14 - 2008; in the past, when I zoomed in on the timeline such that I would have about an inch or two between seconds, on the display just above the first track I could see individual frame lines and I could easily tell/count when I had moved a few frames left or right. I just received MEP 2014 Plus and those markers have seemingly disappeared and replaced by marlers every five frames! Is there a way to fix this?

I would also like to be able to automatically display audio waveforms, like before, instead of having to do two clicks and wait for them to appear!

This is a serious problem for me - enough that I might have to return the product and use an old one if this capability has truly disappeared!!

Thanks in advance,

Sparky

Hi,

I see the individual frames and the timeline is in frames as are the markers. Using the left/right cursor arrows moves 1 frame at a time. In the image below, my cursor is at 54s 21 frames.

See the image below to change the zoom to 1 frame.

For your second problem, go to Program settings (Y), Video/Audio tab, uncheck the box "Video/Audio on one line," and check the box "Automatically create waveform during import." See below.

Hi:

Thanks for taking the time to answer but unfortunately, I don't see the "see below" items - am I doing something wrong?

Hi, John:

I missed those settings in the program settings, so thanks for that.

However, the missing frame 'markers' are different from the individual frames. See below that there are only 'markers' every 5 frames, not every frame - that's what is missing! I don't know if you can see it, but between 6 seconds and 7 seconds, there are only 4 markers!

Hi Sparky,

It looks like you selected zoom 1s instead of 1 frame. Check this.

Sorry, John - I can't see anything. Last time, when you answered, the images suddenly came up - I don't know what's wrong. But I appreciate your keeping with me!!

Hi,

I agree.

Or for better quality: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4019461/MEP14v2014-MarksPerSecond.jpg

Although I'd hate to be forced back to MEP 14 instead of the far superior MEP 2014, I've noted many undesirable changes too, and this appears to be one of them.

Of course, as John advised, you can still zoom in as appropriate, but we've lost the default frame markers.

What is it you can't see? As far as I can tell, John didn't include an image with his post this time.

Hi Terry, hope you had a wonderful trip. Welcome back.

Hi Sparky,

You have to zoom to the 1 frame level in MEP, not the 1 second level. See below.

For better quality:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xfyyrdcbpv7ut78/MEP%20Zoom%201%20frame2.jpg

When you zoom to the 1 frame level, each mark is a frame as is each image. These are very clear to me, although as Terry says, the grey-on-grey is not the easiest to see. As I indicated in my first post, you can clearly see the seconds and frame number. The 2 upper arrows in the image point to 00:00:54 (seconds):24 and then 00:00:54 (seconds):25 frames.
