Hi,

I don't recall ever using a lighter display or skin in MEP 17, and on checking just now I could find no setting for it or mention of it in Help or the PDF manual. Nor could I find a relevant entry in the videodeluxe.ini file. But I do have a vague memory of this being an option in some version, so it's quite possible that did include MEP 17 and I'm not looking in the right places.

I've just tried to find such an option in MEP 2014 Premium and failed there too. Yet as you see below the PDF Manual says it exists!

Many thanks, Terry.  My memory was playing tricks on me, as usual.  MEP 14, which I used for years, did have that light/dark option, and I just assumed MEP 17 would have it too.  Ah well....

To close this off, here's the main part of the prompt reply I had from Support about this puzzling inconsistency in MEP 2014:

As you can guess, the options don't exist. It's a mistake in the documentation. Sorry. I'll pass it on to the documentation team. The darker/lighter skin thing is obviously a leftover from a much older version. As for the language, I don't remember this ever being an option in Movie Edit Pro in the past (but it will be possible starting in the next generation). Not sure where this came

Thanks again, Terry.  Final question:  is there any way to make MEP 14 work on Windows Home Premium?  In my opinion and experience, MEP 14 is much better than MEP 17.  I followed MS advice and upgraded to Windows 7 Professional in order to make MEP 14 work using "Windows XP Mode" -- but it did NOT work.  So I'm back to Windows 7 Home Premium following much sweat re-installing and re-configuring programs and apps.  Ugh!

I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to offer much help on your separate new question, as I'm still using XP (32 bit).

I'd have to disagree about your MEP 14 versus MEP 17 comparison. Of course, familiarity is a major factor (one of the reasons I'm still using XP!), but I wouldn't want to return to that very old version now.

I'm also surprised that MAGIX recommended that you upgrade to Win 7 professional without being 100% confident it would allow MEP 14 to work. Have you let them know of your disappointment?

I'd suggest you raise a new post, as this is quite a different issue to the current thread subject and may not have caught the attention of the Win 7 users here.

Or you could go the extra mile and upgrade to MEP 2014. If so, pay a little more for the Premium version.

Sorry, by "MS" I meant Microsoft, not Magix.

So I'll just have to get used to MEP 17.

Thanks again.
