MEP 2013 crashes when attempting to do picture transitions

I have over 2,000 pictures in my slideshow project in MEP 2013 Pro.   If I attempt to change the picture transition manually for each picture, that works.  If I change one transition, and then have it "apply to all following objects", the software crashes.  Same as when I try to change the picture length (from 7 seconds to 5 seconds) globally.

All of this usually works fine when having a project with only a couple of hundred pictures, why would it crash with that many?    Having to manually set the crossfade for over 2,000 pictures will take a long time...

BTW:  my PC is a Dell XPS, with 8 co-processors and 16 GB of RAM running Windows 7 Pro... so "power" should not be an issue!

Hi

Do the transition ropogation in stagesas follows:

  1. Create a crossfade between first two objects

  2. Select these two objects plus another 100 (for example)

  3. Right click the first transition and 'Apply to all selected objects'

  4. Save the project

  5. Repeat 1 to 4 for the remaining objects.

Note if you are planning on putting this project on to DVD or BD - you may be exceeding the allowed length of movie of 2 hours maximum.

Tips:

  1. Consider using collages if you have not done so at certain points in the movies - you can display multiple images in a shorter time than if you do them in sequence.

  2. If this a project that can be split up into several shorter movies then create a multi movie disc as in this tutorial.  Your viewers will thank you for this  .

Got it to work finally.   BTW, my project has 2,400 JPG images with about 5.5 second duration.   Image files are 20 megapixel scans, each about 5 MB in size.

The final movie project was a bit over 3 hours 20 minutes long on a standard (25 GB) BluRay disk (including some background muzak).  I had to adjust the "quality" a bit to get it to fit, but looks pretty good.

Too bad that one can't set an automatic transition default for pictures (I prefer a crossfade over a standard [no] transition, it's smoother on the eyes).

Other than the transitions, I just insert various chapter stops as needed (rather than do separate movies).
