MEP 2013 Issue when creating Blu-Ray Disk

OlsBean wrote on 10/25/2012, 1:22 AM

I've managed to burn my first project successfully to DVD and it plays back as it should. When I burn the exact same project to Blu-Ray (TDK BD-R 4X 25GB) MEP reports that the burn was successful as does Windows 7. When I attempt to play back the disk on the computer it won't playback, VLC reports an error as does Power DVD. When I attempt to play it on my Samsung BD Player, the disk starts and loads up the disk menu, when I click play, it simply returns to the menu. If I go to Scene selection and select a scene, it simply plays the main menu again. I've checked the content of the disk and the main movie is there in the correct format for Blu-Ray.

I've done this twice now and both times it had produced the same results

TIA

Hi

On your computer you need version VLC 2.0.4 minimum and / or PowerDVD 12  to play BD discs.

Depending on the model of the Samsung player, it may not accept the TDK discs try using a different brand disc.

Better still, try the tip I gave you in your previous post - I use Vebatim BD-Re and BD-R with no problems on my Sony BD player and two others I have tried Panasonic and LG.

Sorry John, I don't think you're correct about the version required for PowerDVD to play BD discs.  I have version 10 and it plays Blu-ray without problem.

Thanks for the replies.

VLC will play the disc now after selecting BD in the open media options. However VLC does not show the menu it simply plays the film. Power DVD reports there is no playable media in the drive and my Samsung BD plays another movie that have been burnt to the TDK disc (Not via MEP) as does PowerDVD, the Samsung BD player also plays the menu on the movie in question which would I have thought indicates that the disc is compatible. I think the issues lies with the menu somewhere, I need to get some Rewritable BD's then I will try burning it again, maybe changing the menu or removing options like sound from the menu to see if that makes a difference.
