MEP 2014: Play while recording not working

terrypin wrote on 2/28/2014, 10:29 AM

I don't use this option very often but when I tried today it failed. The marker moved but did not display the objects on the timeline. I tried a set of short JPGs and also a video clip. Neither were displayed. Only the audio from the video clip was played.

I then tried MEP 2013, which worked as expected.

Reproducible by others? Bug?

(Latest patch installed.)

Hi Terry,

I asked this question a while back and it seems that there was a bug. The answer was:

Workaround: Change Audiodriver from "Wave" to "Direct Sound"

in the program settings - playback.

The latest patches seem to have solved this problem. I tried using Wave and it now works and gives better sound than Direct..

I am using a cheap Karaoke mic connected to the sound card. It gives some background hiss and is susceptable to clipping. I have to do a cleaning each time, and sometimes I go to VSCL to clean even more.

I usually use a mic connected to an M-Audio M-Track USB/MIDI interface. The mic is better quality with an XLR connection. I get virtually no hiss and little or no cleaning is required.

Thanks John. That's odd, I'm using the patched program too.

Hi Terry,

I use the new patch as well, and the bug still exists.

Nor have the bugs in the mediapool been fixed. (Taking over the mediapool settings from the previous VdL session) .

Regards Herbert

Hi Terry,

Exactly the same problem even with patched program. Solution of using direct sound audio driver works for me.

Either driver works okay with mep 17.

I wish I'd found this thread earlier i've spent a lot of time trying to solve this as well as forking out for a new graphics card (and beefier power supply) as advised by 'Tech support'. I'm a newbie here so ask if it's worthwhile referring these sorts of problems to them-do they not really believe their users or just don't care?

John,

Are you 100% sure? As you see, HSchmidt, tobs and I still have the problem. And Magix recognise it as a bug and have it on their 'to be fixed' list.

Hi Terry,

I must have been hallucinating. I tried it just after applying the patch and I was sure that it worked; now I am not so sure. I tried again and it doesn't work. When I record with a video clip, the video starts to move and then stops. The sound keeps playing however, but that is useless.

Thus it has not been fixed. I stand corrected.
