MEP modify video length

Hi, I use Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus version 10.0.12.2(uc1) with windows 8. I use my cell phone Galaxy S4 to make movies in .mp4 format. The movie is 4 min. 36 sec. at 29.97 fps 1920X1080. When I create a new movie I chose HDTV 1080i NTSC 16:9 (1920x1080; 29.97fps) in movie setting. Which is exactly the properties of my clip. When I add the clip to the movie, MEP ask me if I want to adjust or not adjust the clip because MEP think the clip is at 23.18 fps !?!?!? I choose adjust or not adjust, the result is the same. The clip of 4min36sec go to a clip of 5min57sec. Only the video is affected (slowly than the original) The audio remain at the same speed. With a result that at 4min36sec. the audio stop and the video continue... The video is completly out of sync... MEP chose different fps from one clip to another even if all the clips was recorded with the same device in the same day with the same setting... I have to separate audio and video and change the speed of the video to match audio. Not one clip is at the same rate so it's like really frustating!!

What can I do???

Thank you for your help,

Franky7

Hi,

The Galaxy S4 records video at 1080p not 1080i.

Hi, Thank you for the fast answer!! So, if I understand right, if I convert my clip from 1080p to 1080i, MEP will put it correctly in my movie?

Francois.

Hi

Video from mobile phones in general are a problem for many video editting software.

The problem is, though they may say they record at mp4 at 29.97 fps , many mobile phones actually use a variable framerate and I think what you are seeing reported is the average framerate of the video.

The ideal answer would be to use the correct tool for the job ie a video camera, however that is not useful here.

The mobile should have a program for importing the video from the phone to the PC.  This should also offer the option to convert the video to a 'standard' format which you can import into MEP.

Hi John,

I'll try to import the clip with the right software... I didn't try it yet.

Thanks for the answer and the help of everyone!
