MEP MPEG-4 Export Presets

Hello,

I just wondered whether there are any export presets for smartphones in any newer versions of Movie Edit Pro? On my version (2018 Premium) there is no preset that is optimised for smartphones, which I find quite surprising. Can anyone explain the reason for this?

Hi

In

IIRC in MEP 2018 there should be the option File, Export to device.

MEP 2022 has export presets for mobile devices, however there are 2 routes to getting to the settings

  1. File, Export to device then work through the options

  2. Click the Other options to finish movie indicated by the yellow arrow in the image below opens the dialog shown below

Selecting Export to a mobile device - green arrow above - gives you all the different presets in one click on the drop down dialog - see image below.

IMHO option 2 is the quicker method

Hi Jak.

My personal take on presets is just that, they are presets. A starting point. I feel any preset is a starting point and not necessarily the item I end up with. As it is possible to save custom settings I can set my own requirements for a particular export dependent on the end use. There are a myriad of phones out there with phones from the same manufacturer but different requirements and capabilities with new phones almost every month. How would anyone keep up? How big a list of presets would there be?

If you know your own phones' specifications you can work from the nearest preset that matches if there is one or make a new one. My Galaxy phone has a screen resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~270 ppi density) but the video resolution is a standard 1920 x 1080 so where is the need for an additional preset?

Other phones normally stick to standard resolutions from HD 2.7K 4K and 8K on some models.

Find out what video resolution your phone actually takes and if you really need to, find a corresponding preset.

Ray.
