Hi I am using MEP14 Premium. I was about to burn BluRay. All was fine, even checking Disc Information was ok. Suddenly when i click burn, an error msg appeared. Tried many diff ways to change filepath or ways but still unable. My bluray external burner works normally with other programs. I got more than few hundred Gigs left in my internal SSD. Please assist me!

Hi

I presume you mean MEP2014 there is an older version which is abbreviated to MEP14.  Please use MEP 2014 in future posts if this is correct.

Are you running MEP2014 on a MAC using Bootcamp?

If so that is the problem which, AFAIK there is no solution.  MEP 2014 is not designed to run on a MAC.

Yup im using MEP 2014 Premium. My comp is Macbook Pro 15" retina of e highest specs. Running in Windows parallel. I hv no idea that such problem will arise. I've emailed magix directly n they did say that this parallel software might cause the cconflics.

Ill check with parallel side after this cos there shld be an alternative way of resolving this issue.  If it cant be solved then I guess it will be my last time using magix. Cos im a windows user jumping to Mac bt at the same time using parallel to use all the windows-only software. At least other softwares willing to update or patch their program, unlike magix. They just simply said that it is unable to operate n that's it. Nothing of any other suggestions or to look into the matter. Guess they don't care. Though I've been using MEP for bout 5 years since the days borrowing a friend's comp to edit, well I guess, it's time for me not to care too.

Actually Magix cn attract Mac users if they patch or update their softwares but it seems that they are not keen. Well thanx v much John for your kind reply. Will miss Magix. It's like a fcpx users jumping to premiere pro.

Hi

The problem is not with MEP - it is with the Windows / Parallels combination.

Many progams control the DVD / BD drives directly through their own burn routines - I suspect Magix software does this.

IIRC on the Windows / Parallels combination direct access to the drives is not allowed.  Software has to use a 'pseudo' or 'virtual' drive, which programs designed to use drives directly cannot see.

While porting Windows software to the MAC OS is possible, I would suspect that in many cases the time, investment and recoding necessary make this option non viable in terms of the returns gained.

It would be interesting to see if ImgBurn and Nero on the Windows OS can see / use the drive.
