MEP2014 Freezes

brucehusker wrote on 8/3/2014, 10:18 AM

Hi gang...Does anyone else have trouble with MEP2014 freezing up. My system is Win 8.1 64 bit with 16 gb mem. I installed the latest patch, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. It seems to do it when I'm scrubbing. I have to use task manager to shut it down, because nothing on screen responds. Is this a known bug or anything? It's just maddening.

Regards...
Bruce

Hi Bruce

. . . . My system is Win 8.1 64 bit with 16 gb mem. . . .

But what is your computer specification?

Without that we could be guessing.

Hi Bruce

Thanks for that.

Assuming you are editing HD video then this is a common problem especially where there are complex transitions and / or multiple tracks being processed at the same time.

I would suggest you turn on Automatically create proxy files in the projects properties dialog (E key).

This will create proxy files which need less processor power than the full HD files - the initial process may take some time if there are a lot of HD video files on the timeline.

If you already have proxy files turned on then you may need to look at what else is running and may be hogging resources eg Anitvirus suite.
