MEP2018 Plus - searching in Help file causes crash

browj2 wrote on 10/8/2017, 10:05 AM

MEP2018 Plus 17.0.1.136 on W10 1703

Here's an interesting one. Open a new project, press on F1 to open the Help file, click Search tab, type a word into the search box, press Enter to start a search, and MEP and the Help file freeze. Have to use the Task Manager to end MEP.

Can anyone reproduce this?

Hi John CB

I can confirm this issue same version for MEP and Windows.

I did suspect an issue with the .chm file, however opening this on its own the Search works fine.

Hi John and John.

You mentioned MEP2018 Plus 17.0.1.136 (my bolding). I assume you actually mean Premium?

Whatever, I can confirm the issue here.

Hi Jeff,

No, I have Plus, not Premium. Remember that they are both the same; Premium just has additional add-ons, plugins and programs. Of course, Magix has been also offering many of these in Plus. Anyway, I ended up with Plus. Funny thing was, I had installed the trial of Premium, and when I received the s/n for Plus, I tried entering it in the trial version, it was accepted, activated, I believe, and then told me it was the wrong version. I had to uninstall it and download and install the Plus version.

OT - I stumbled across the Help problem whilst playing around synchronizing VPX with Samplitude as Master/Slave and Slave/Master using LoopBe1. I thought that I would see if it was (were?) possible using MEP, so I opened it, checked the Movie Settings, no Synch tab, went to Help and tried to search for sync and it froze. MEP cannot be synchronized with Samplitude.

I was able to synch VPX with MusicStudio 2 and Samplitude Pro X3. It can also be done with Samplitude MusicStudio. MusicMaker has a sync feature but I couldn't get it to work.

I have Movie Edit Pro Premium and can confirm that my version also freezes and becomes unresponsve when I search the integrated help within the software.

As a side note, plus exists as well as premium.
