Missing Options in Movie Edit Pro Premium

MotivatedImages wrote on 6/19/2018, 11:06 AM

I bought MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Premium a few days ago, and have successfully completed the somewhat involved installation process, so everything should be in place.
Reading the manual, and watching various videos, there seem to be some discrepancies.

1) In the storyboard mode, there are no 'AB' buttons between objects, just grey squares, which can be right clicked on, producing a context menu.

2) There are no 'MAGIX Tools' options of 'Internet media'; 'Downloads'; or 'Online Album', as mentioned in the programme's 'Help'; only 'Travel route' is there.

3) Effects cannot be 'dragged and dropped' onto video objects, in 'storyboard mode'. My impression from watching various videos, is that one ought to be able to do that. Has something changed in the most recent version?

Can anyone shed any light on these differences, and where the missing functions might have got to!?

I'm using Version 17.0.3.177, of MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Premium.

Thank you.

Hi,

Did you update to the latest patch - Help - Update online?

From what you say, you went through the Install extra content and downloaded and installed the 10 or so files?

The manual is somewhat behind the changes that have been made in the last year or so.

1. Manual needs to be updated. The square is the same thing. Use left for right button to get the menu, select a transition, like Crossfade. You'll see the square button takes on an attribute.

2. I thing that Internet media has been replaced by Cloud import (gives me a screen in German). Downloads is now on the menu by itself. Online album has disappeared. Why, I don't know. I never used it. I always export, check the export, then upload to where I want using the upload feature within the Online Album or from within YouTube or Video. For the Album, you would need to have it first.

3. Effects are not dragged and dropped. You select the object, the set the effect that you want. Stuff that can be dragged and dropped are under the Templates tab. Transitions are dragged and dropped.

Storyboard mode is somewhat useful if all you do is import clips, add titles and transitions. Best use timeline mode, especially if you want to edit the length of clips once on the timeline, add music, overlays, etc.

I suggest that you watch my tutorials on Basic editing 1 and 2.

Thank you for your response, John CB!

1) Yes, I checked for updates earlier today; I've installed all the extra content, as far as I'm aware; and the other softwares that came with the programme.

2) I noticed that the 'grey square' context menu doesn't contain the programme menu 'Effects', but that entries for 'User Effects', are there.

3) This is very helpful, the specification of what can be 'dragged and dropped'.

4) The 'Internet media' option was described in some video, and looked to be a most convenient way of collecting specific portions of online video, importing them directly into the project. It doesn't look as though the 'Cloud import' function is going to be as useful. Might be nice if Magix brought back the 'Internet media' option, in an update?

5) I grabbed a bunch of videos, a few days ago; all the Magix videos, from their main site; one by 'DaveMerc', "Magix Movie Edit Pro 2018 PLUS Beginner Tutorial - All Steps on How to Make YouTube Videos"; and some by, "DCP Web Designers". Watched a few minutes of one of the tuition videos you linked, it was very, very good, so I grabbed all 23 videos connected to Movie Edit Pro, from your channel. Now I just need to find the time to watch them all, lol! Anyhow, thank you for that learning resource!
