MMM 2014 fresh reinstall from website

Eleyan wrote on 10/15/2025, 4:30 AM

The installer for MMM2014 downloads, but once it starts up, it just stops again with no error messages.

The documentation claims it can be installed on vista/7 right through to win11. Am I wrong?

Or is the windows version not the issue? I have a copy of MMM 2014 Premium on my Win7 laptop

and wished to delete it from that machine as it is being retired. I want to download it to a Win 11 Pro HP Prodesk which is much newer and has more storage space and no problems with out of date browsers.

@Eleyan Do you mean the downloader closes itself or it switches to a pause button?

If the download simply pauses your firewall is blocking it. You need to add an exception rule or temporarily disable it.

If it crashes you need to ask customer support at infoservice@magix.net for the installer because the old downloaders no longer work.

Music Maker 2014 will definitely only officially support the operating systems that were common at its time, that would include Windows 7 or 8. It might work on 10 and 11, but that's not guaranteed.

Thank you, SP. Have you seen the d103.magix page online? It tries to claim it will be compatible with all later versions. It sucks to not know this in advance, sure. I will check how to create that firewall exception. Cheers.

@Eleyan You can also check the folder C:\Users\*YourWindowsUsername*\Documents\Magix Downloads\Installationsmanager\ on your Windows 7 computer. Maybe it still has a backup copy of the Music Maker 2014 installer.

Long story short, the installer was the problem, I finally got shot of trying to find a way to use the Win7 version of 2014, so I went forward to the next one - 2021 and it wouldn't accept activation/registration info - Then, the next day after shooting off a message to tech support, I saw an update which then gave a fresh installer that worked. So now I have 2021 Premium with a few soundpools now and have one song sample attempted, only I cannot seem to find a way to put up on my Media with my other songs here. Any suggestions?

@Eleyan

Hi

. . . . I cannot seem to find a way to put up on my Media with my other songs here . . . .

Looks like you have found the upload, I can see your latest 'Never (be the one)'.

Do note that you are limited to 2 uploads per day.

MMM 2021 is incredibly unstable - it shuts down when I try to use a carbon 49 keyboard. When I start a session I can use and hear the keyboard, then when I choose record midi on a track, the other music plays but keyboard goes silent, then shortly after Magix closes down. I also got the same installer error message as I did with 2014.

@Eleyan Which version of Music Maker do you have? Technically, you can update Music Maker 2021 to Music Maker 2024 (Version 32) for free. To my knowledge 2021 doesn't work correctly anymore, because it can't connect to the in-app-store. Also, the 2024 has a new ASIO driver called Music Maker ASIO. The old Magix Low Latency ASIO driver has problems on modern operating systems.
