MMS2024 - save as take!

Roberto-Goncalves wrote on 5/9/2024, 11:25 AM

Hi,

I cut an interval from a video and commanded "save as take" (shift + k). When I used it in another project, simply after adding it to the timeline the sound was not displayed. Is this correct?
Repeating the operation with the original video and now "moving" the timeline interval to the "Takes" folder, I see that it works. But moving the object to the timeline removes what is not intended from the timeline because the objective is to have a copy of the created clip. I did this just to guess what is possible that the Magix developer allowed.
In another situation, I also took another video, cut it at any interval, separated the sound from this interval, and commanded save as take. It went to the "Takes" folder but when uploading it to the timeline, its sound doesn't work. How crazy is this!
I did this with several videos and the situation is that save as take is bugged! Unless the problem other. So could anyone confirm this?

Thanks!

@Roberto-Goncalves Hi n yeah that's messed up,

  • Shift+K creates a take with only video,
  • Drag n drop to the Takes folder removes the orig from the timeline,
  • I tried Ungrouping the video from the audio, selecting the audio & the video as they're now two separate objects then Shift+K, but when dragging one back into a new movie it crashed MS, 4 times.
  • I don't know of another option apart from duplicating the timeline objects so you can drag them to the Takes folder without removing the originals,

Try Shift+K , then after you've dragged the video only Take onto the new movie timeline, right click Restore original sound.

Hi,

They can be aired as a visual or audio!
hence "or" or one or the other!
Otherwise the Video Editor mentor
It should be very clear that this is a video only!

In the operation you did, it shouldn't crash once. Otherwise, in the worst case scenario, a message should be displayed to the user clarifying something that the manual itself does not clarify. So far it's a bug! So much so that it displays an exception screen that I sent to support! I don't understand Magix why there is so much darkness in thought!

So here is the temporary solution for the user to manually create a "myTakes" folder and create its link as well.
Then you will have to duplicate the object, and move it to myTakes, the clip, either just video or just sound. But this is painful and laborious!

Does the VPX16 also work in the same way as the MMS2024?

I did a comparative test with a clip and its corresponding "TK2".
At least size makes a difference! (without considering clip compression)

@Roberto-Goncalves Did you try the right click Restore Original Sound I mentioned? It works for me.

works for me too! and if you "move" said audio to the "takes" folder it will work as a container. But these alternatives are outside of what the manual itself says!

@Roberto-Goncalves

Hi,

Well, I tried Takes in MMS2024. Before saving as a Take, did you group the objects? If not, do so.

I ran into major problems with takes. I tried various things, but inevitably the program would crash.

When the take worked, I got the sound for the video, but not the music, never the music.

Does the VPX16 also work in the same way as the MMS2024?

No. VPX doesn't use Takes, although I did find a way to do it at one time, I believe.

Instead, you use the Project Temp Folder (PTF). Cut each side for the take, group the objects, right-click on, preferably the video clip, insert into Project Temp Folder. If you don't group, you get separate objects in the PTF.

Also, the "take" should not have any incomplete objects, meaning that each object has to fill the range of the cut, and no object should start or end within the range.

I started the photo after the beginning of my cut (see image below), grouped everything, sent to the PTF. When I put the object on the timeline, the photo was missing.

Here is a valid take sent to the PTF:

Here is what it will look like when put on the timeline:

Note that the audio that is supposed to be on track 2 is with the video on track 1 and plays. The music that is supposed to be on track 5, has been moved to track4. If I ungroup this, the audio for the video will show up on track 2.

To be able to use the take in another project, export the PTF and Load it in another project. In order to know which object is the take, rename it in the PTF:

Save the PTF, note the name.

In a new project, load the PTF and your take will be there.

Note that for simplicity, I deleted everything in the PTF except for the take (and Movies which cannot be deleted through the PTF). Otherwise, everything that was available in the first project will be available in the second via the PTF.

Deleting objects in the PTF does not remove them from the project, just the PTF.

The above may look difficult, but if you work with the PTF, you'll soon see how useful it is.

An alternative to doing takes in both MMS/VPX is to just copy the grouped objects to another Movie and export that Movie then import it into a new project.

@browj2 Ok!

In this specific situation "as take" of an image, when moving it to the folder and then transferring it back to the timeline, a bug occurs which results in the size of 1 second! (this bug must be a close "relative" to the bug you reported in vpx15).

@browj2

Could it be that in your first image you posted, it didn't take 1 second and the timeline scale is different and doesn't allow it to be viewed?

Hi Roberto,

Oh oh! I think that the 1 second problem of trimmed clips is still there. I'll get back on this later today or tomorrow.

Hi,

One more situation: can I retrieve any object that is generated in MMS2024 later in VPX16? for example ".TK2" files?
(Magix should make this very clear!)
