Hi

. . . . Has anyone ever used motion tracking with one of the plug ins such as Newbluefx? . . .

Which NewBlue effect are you wanting to motion track?

If this is the NewBlue Titler EX that came with the program then, AFAICS, it is not possible to keyframe the effect either in the Effect dialog or in MEP.

To keyframe the effect you would have to use the Pro version of NewBlue Titler.

Hi John,

No, it's not the titler. Let's take an example, Newblue Filters..there is for example an option called 'Spotlight'

You can make a round blur with it too. Now let's say I want to blur someones faces and he is walking around from left too right on the screen... How can I make this blur following his face..?

Hi

. . . . Spotlight . . .

Keyframing depends on the version of Spotlight under NewBlue Filters you have:

  1. the old interface - see image below then the spotlight can be keyframed

The options indicated must be set. However I have an issue with this - I get 2 spotlights in the movie clip and they are not positioned correctly as seen in the interface.

  2. the OpenFX version - AFAICS there is no option for keyframing.

The OFX version of spotlight (and others) is fully keyframable. Open the details and put kf's on the ones that you want.

Hi John

Thanks for the info - yesterday when I was testing nothing worked, think I will have to re-install the effects to see if it fixes the issues I am having.

Question - on your Surface Pro do you have the HWA enabled or disabled for the NB effects? I have tried both and there appears to be no difference with the OpenFX issue I am having same goes for changing display mode in MEP.

Thank you guys for the very usable info. Maybe a tip for the programmers: It should be fantastic if i could chance the subject into an object and let the autotracker do the work ;-) But ok, manually you also have far more options..

Hi John EB,

On my Surface Pro 4, Win10 Pro 1809, I have HWA turned on in both VPX 17.0.1.27 and MEP 18.0.3.261 for playback and encoding during export where possible. For NB Spotlight OFX, Options, the 2 boxes for Disable GPU are unchecked. Is there somewhere else to turn on/off HWA for NB?

Hi John

Thanks for the info - they are the same settings as I use.

. . . . Is there somewhere else to turn on/off HWA for NB? . . .

No those are the only ones.

I spent a couple of hours this morning test all the Open FX plugins I have - Hitfilm all work, NB Colorfast 2 works correctly, however all the NB Essential v3 and 4 OFX do not.

Thanks

I added your idea to the wish-list. It would be useful to be able to apply something like the NB Spotlight to the tracking created under the command "Attach to picture position in the video," or rather be able to use the spotlight like an object to have it track.
