Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus

cocobacon wrote on 11/12/2017, 8:38 AM

I have Windows 10.  MEP 2013+ has been working at an acceptable level, although not at an optimal level since I installed in on a previous version of Windows.  Yesterday, I experienced a problem with the orange frame marker (line) not scrolling when "play" is pressed (didn't work on MEP 17, either).  One suggestion I always find with just about every problem is to reset program to factory defaults, so I did.  Now, I the program is stuck on the initial pop-up and can't get past "loading setting."  I have uninstalled/reinstalled MEP 2013+ already.

Hi,

I’ve sometimes recovered from that sort of marker problem by clicking the two-headed arrow icon, bottom right. I’m not at my PC to check, but I think it’s labeled something like ‘Optimize...’.

thank you. I will try that.  however, I cannot get the program to run any longer.  when I start the program, it locks on the startup window and "loading settings."  I've let it try for hours, but no good.  Also, it is running as a "background process" rather than an application.  any ideas?

Rather more serious than your original problem! I’d suggest you start with this:

Hi

Before re-installing try the following the procedure pointed to by Terry:

  1. Open Task Manager and end any Magix processes that are running

  2. Close Task Manager

  3. Restart the computer - Windows button, Power, Restart

  4. Open Windows Explorer and browse to

  5. C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus

  6. Delete the videodeluxe.ini file found there.

  7. Start MEP.

Terry, I'm afraid your link goes no where (Page not found).

jonebaker, I went into the folder as you stated and did not find a config file.  I still have MEP 17 installed, so I went into that folder and found one there, so I concluded the installation did not create one (presumably because it failed to load settings)

I located one for MEP2013 in the recycle bin and restored it, but it went to C:/...programdata.  Just to see, I moved it to the ...appdata/roaming folder, and it booted up (with some run errors, however).

I am going to uninstall and reinstall one more time.  To be honest, I have had issues with this version since I installed it, with the last suggestion from product support was in reinstall windows.  That's not going to happen.

It was working at an acceptable level for this long. I don't know why it decided to quit on me.  Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

OK, fellas.  That last uninstall/install seemed to work.  I had to go through folders to delete all remaining traces of the previous install.  Still having issues with certain functions, for example, I cannot use 3D text (.x3d), even through the program is embedded.  If either of you know how to fix that, please let me know.  That was one of the previous issues I had, but got no resolution from product support.

Thankyou for your help with this.

Sorry that got mangled. Maybe I shouldn't have attempted it from my iPad with Safari!

Here's the correct link (and I've edited the original link too):

Can't help you with Xara as I no longer have MEP 2013 installed on this Win 10 PC.
