Movie Edit Pro 2016 Plus - Cannot Update the Program/Software

Movie Edit Pro 2016 Plus version 15.0.0.90 (UDP 3)

When I click update online, the update is saying to install first the program/software before continuing. The program/software is installed on my laptop's D Drive because the C Drive is quite full already.

How to I update the program/software please?

My computer is an ACER Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60 GHz 2.60 GHz, 8GB RAM, 64-bit operating system, Windows 10 Home

@JohnIII-Rosado

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

The fact that your current version of MEP is installed on your D:\ drive should not be any problem with regard to Updating your software. I have the great majority of my programs also on D:\, including all my Magix apps, and updates happen without problem.

We will need someone who perhaps still has version 15 installed to say whether or not 15.0.0.90 was actually the last release patch for that version; it seems unlikely, given the numbering system which Magix use.

The fact that any update is, apparently, not seeing your existing installation suggests a Registry problem, I think. Somehow, the app location has not been fully registered within your computer. We need someone, @johnebaker perhaps, to suggest how you might force your registry to recognise the install location of the app but, just to be clear, when the app was first installed was it to the D:\ drive, or have you, perhaps, "moved" it there after installation? Such a change would not be recorded in the Registry, I think, although I am quite surprised it would even run properly in suchy circumstances.

One other thought; how much free space do you currently have on each of your drives?

Also, for clarification for other users, you are attempting to Update version 15, not Upgrade to a later version?
