Movie Edit Pro 2016 Plus v.15

John-Cant wrote on 2/26/2022, 12:28 PM

I bought this a few years ago but never pursued editing video.  I now have a camera capable of 4k and am buying a monitor with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440). I use a Dell desktop XPS 8940 and Windows 10.

I have some questions:

1. Is the 2016 version capable of editing 4 k?

2. Is it compatible with a 2560 x 1440 resolution monitor?

3. Does it have vibration reduction, or stabilization or whatever one calls it?  This is important to me as I have videos from the past that were shot in strong wind and with an inadequate tripod.  As I am interested in documenting bird behavior, these problems could occur again.

Thank you very much,

@John-Cant I don't know about 2016 but you might be better upgrading to 2022 Plus as it does 4k & has some basic video stabilization

& at the moment (only until 27th Feb) you'll get TotalFX inc worth £700-£1500 https://www.magix.com/gb/video-editing/movie-edit-pro/

@John-Cant

Hi

What is the Dell computer specification? There are several variants for the XPS 8940 each with customisable configurations, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full - I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Movie Edit Pro 2016 will run quite happily on Windows 10, and edit 4K video*, however you do need to ensure the Intel iGPU is available and set in the Program Settings, Display options tab, Video mode option. Any NVidia GPU will not be useable for Hardware acceleration which is necessary for 4K smooth preview playback and reasonable export times.

* note: the 4K video file should have:

  1. video encoded as h.264/AVC, h.265 (HEVC) is possible if you have purchased the HEVC codec.

  2. audio must be encoded as AAC stereo - Dolby AC-3 stereo or surround sound is not supported.

My knowledge of things like iGPU and NVidea is less than zero and frankly at 81 I am not going to make a great effort to upgrade my brain. But right-clicking on my desktop gets me to an NVIDEA PhysX control panel so I assume that means in your view I need new hardware, i.e. an Intel iGPU -- correct? If so I think it might be simplest to forget about Magix and look elsewhere for a recommended video editing program that is good for stabilization and 4k.
