Movie Edit Pro Plus 2014 - how to resolve encoding errNo 5

peter70 wrote on 11/29/2014, 4:57 AM

Hi

I have tried repeatedly to burn a dvd with Movie Edit Pro Plus 2014 version 13.0.5.4.  However I keep getting the same failure message:

Step 2 done
29/11/2014 10:04:11.384:   ERROR: PrepareDVDVideoFiles() failed with errNo 5 - encoding failed
29/11/2014 10:04:11.385:   !!! DBK error in BurnProject: 10 - movie encoding failed !!!

I have used two different computers - the first running Windows 7 and the second Windows 8.1

Any help or guidance most appreciated

Hi

Can you post the section of the error log from the initialistion of the project burn up to and including the error message.

Which DVD menu template did you select?

Are there different video formats and / or audio formats on the timeline ?

Do you have Calculate video effects on GPU option checked - if so turn it off and try again - if a dialog pops up asked what to do with existing files select the Encode All option

I used the AVCHD menu template, but have had the same message with the DVD burning template.

Hi Peter,

Can you successfuly play the DVD from the folder created by MEP during the 'Burn' process (before the disc burn)? This will be in the location you've specified (or that was specified by default) under the Folder tab of Program Settings.

If so, burn it from an alternative burning app, such as ImgBurn. That's what I do for all my DVDs from MEP.

Hi

Unfortunately you have not provided all the section of the error log  - please post the the section you posted starting from the line where there is only the date / time line through to the error.

How long is the movie on the timeline?

Which particular menu template(s), ie name, did you select?

John
