Movie Edit Pro Premium HEVC Codec Restore activation does not work

After updating my Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium software on my Windows 11 laptop, I'm not able to play some of the MP4 videos in Magix, even though they play in Windows, and they used to play in Magix before the update. Magix complains I need QuickTime, and I after installed QuickTime 7.7.9 and restarted Windows, it's still the same problem.

I had purchased HEVC codec before, but perhaps I need to reactivate the HEVC codec?

The original HEVC activation code no longer works, and I had previously restored activation on a previous update using the Restore activation link. However, this time when I click on Restore activation, it doesn't work. I sign in to my account and entire the requested Order # and Computer ID, but I get back an email with a "0" activation code that does not work:

Thank you for activating your MAGIX product upgrade.

Your new activation code is:
0

This is beyond frustrating to lose hours trying to figure this out and not being able to get it working.

Can you please provide a proper activation code? Or better yet find a better way for us to reactivate our purchases!

Hi.

You posted the same problem earlier this year and the reply is the same.

Get in contact with Magix to see if they will supply you with a new activation code.

This is purely a forum for users. Not Magix the company or their staff.

They may be able to help or you may have to buy the codec again. Magix do not have the copyright royalties to the HEVC codec and have to pay for each activation they supply. This is true for both encoder and decoder that are separate codecs.

This is one reason that on the forum we only suggest re-instillation of the program as a last resort to sorting out problems.

The automated restore activation link is meant for the MP4 codec, not the HEVC one.

@CubeAce Last time I didn't get an activation code from Magix support. I didn't realize the "Restore activation" was an actual link that I could click on, but when I realized that, I used it to enter the information and was able to get an activation code that works for the HEVC codec. That's what I did this time around again, except I get back an activation code of "0". If it's somehow not supposed to work anymore, sure would be nice to get back a meaningful error message. In any case, I submitted a support request. Thank you for your help and information.

Hi.

That link has never worked for the HEVC codec. As I said, it was for the alternative Main Concept codec wrapper which is no longer available to Magix users in the newer versions of Movie Studio / VPX.

Using that link for HEVC has always generated a code of 0.
