@Jamie-Stallwood-Dix

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

First, exactly which version and variant of Movie Edit Pro are you running?

Second, please download and install the free MediaInfo Utility, point it to the file that does not play audio and copy and paste here the results of the Text view.

Hi

. . . . Magix movie edit pro premium . . . .

What is the version number as found under Help, About?

From the MediaInfo data:

The audio bitrate at 64 kb/s is half of what would be considered the norm 128 kb/s for AAC stereo - however this would only reduce the quality of the audio and should not stop it playing in Movie Edit Pro (MEP)

The sample rate at 32.0 kHz is also low - for video the standard is 48 kHz - this should not be enough to stop it playing in MEP.

I would also suspect the audio codec AAC LC SBR that has been used in the video may also be causing an issue.

Looking at the rest of the data this would appear to be either a screen recording or the video has been through a video converter (FFMPEG?) - is this correct?

Added: I have tested MEP with a video file with the same audio bitrate and sample rate and straight AAC LC encoding - no SBR - and it plays, however it sounds like you re listening in a glass bottle.

Version is 20.0.1.80 (UDP3)

That's correct, my friend lost the original file and downloaded the video through a link and extension programme. It's play relatively well when I double click it on my computer, but yes, completely drops the audio when importing onto timeline.

Is there any possible way to enable the audio again in MEP? I really appreciate you guys looking into this.

Thank you.

@Jamie-Stallwood-Dix

Can't your friend show you where the file is on the net and you record it using MEP?

At least that way you should have a file you can edit and possibly be a better quality.

Ray.

That's a really good shout, I hadn't thought of doing it that way. I'll give it a go now!

Many thanks.

Hi

With @CubeAce option you have a better chance to get a good sound quality, however do be aware that depending on what you use to screen capture that you do not introduce another issue ie Variable frame rate (VFR) for the video.

The capture software must be set to constant frame rate for the video and should not drop any frames - your computer specification will play a big part in this.

If re-recording is not feasible then try using Handbrake to convert the audio to AAC using these settings:

Video

Audio

HTH
