MP4 problems

Anthony-Sferlazza wrote on 7/15/2025, 3:47 PM

All of a sudden I am having problems with mp4s. I load the videos I want to edit and, after about a minute, the video goes black and Im unable to see it. It will also render black....on others, the audio disappears, I hear a quick blip of audio at the beginning then nothing. On the waveform bar of the track, the audio slider is no longer present. this is really becoming annoying....Yes I paid the 4.99 to update the CODEC

@Anthony-Sferlazza

Sorry to hear about this problem but you need to give us a LOT more information if we are to have any chance of being able to help you.

First, exactly which version of Movie Studio do you have?

Then, please read this pinned post and give us as much detail requested there as you can!

Ill do the best I can. I try to load MP4s onto a track. Sometimes they show up in the visual display and I can edit as normalbut, often (too often), the exact same MP4 I was just using goes black and only the audio comes out (just happened again 30 minutes ago).......a few times the visual display is there but the audio mutes and there is no waveform slider (this doesnt happen that often)....Its not specific to any particular MP4, it happens to all of them.......

Thank you for this but we still don’t know which version of Movie Studio you have. This detail is very important!

MS 18

@Anthony-Sferlazza

Thank you!

Now we need you to tell us a lot more about your computer: Operating System version and build; Type, Size and amount of free space on your hard drive(s); processor make and model; amount of RAM installed; GPU make and model (if you have a separate GPU, this will not be the case if your CPU (processor) also provides the only graphic output).

Within MS18, click the Y key. That will open Program Settings. Go to the Device Options tab and show or tell us what options are available under the Import, Processing and Export buttons and what is currently selected.

Once we have that information we shall almost certainly ask you for more details on your actual video files, but one step at a time!
