@Backyardadi

Hi and welcome to the forum.

We need more information as MP4 is not a video format - it is a container file format that can have many types of video and audio formats in it.

Which codec are you trying to install - Main Concept, HEVC etc?

What antivirus program are you using?

Are you getting any messages if so can you post a screen shot of the message dialog.

It would also help if you put your computer specification in your signature so that we do not have to ask for it - see this topic for details of what is required, please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full.

@johnebaker John, your reference to "MP4" would be better written as "MPEG 4", as per the OP. I agree that MP4 is a container, but we're talking about installing the actual codec here.

@Backyardadi, @AAProds

Hi

Good point Alwyn.

To rephrase my question.

. . . . trying it out with a making of new video. Got the mess that it woulden´t install mpeg 4 codec . . . .

Was it when adding a video clip to the timeline that the codec activation popped up?

If so download and install MediaInfo, analyse the video clip that caused the request to install a codec, and post all the information from the Text view in MediaInfo - you can copy and paste this into your comment.

. . . . Even bought a license and try with that but it didnt work.  . . . .

Which codec is the license for? The default mpeg-4 codec does not require purchase, and, AFAIK, is not available for purchase in the Store - I do stand to be corrected on this one.

The MainConcept (mpeg-4) codec and HEVC (h.265) codecs are the only ones that have a fee based activation?
