MPEG4 ENCODER UPGRADE

vpasche wrote on 10/4/2013, 5:50 PM

Hello,
After conducting the upgrade I attempted to continue working on a project and the program stopped working.  I restarted my computer and even opened a new project and Magix will not open at all.  When it begins to load it stops working at the point where it says "initializing media pool".  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Hi

Did you upgrade MEP or just the mp4 encoder?

If MEP then you need to reset the program by using Windows Explorer to search for a file called  videodeluxe.ini - include in the search options hidden and system folders.

You will find several versions of the file.  The one you are looking for will be the largest in file size.  Rename it, then start MEP - it should now start OK.

If you have upgraded the mp4 codec then you have broken MEP - the software is designed to work with a specific version of the encoder.  You will need to re-install MEP - when you get the option to Repair the installation, do so.  This will hopefully fix the problem.

If not then you are going to have to do a full un-install, then run the Magix cleanup tool available here and then re-install - do not try to upgrade the mp4 encoder..

Thank you so much for your response!!  I just upgraded the encoder, so I attempted to repair but that option was not available.  I was going to uninstall completely but I can't find the cd to reinstall anywhere.  Is there any other option?

Also, the reason I was downloading the mp4 encoder was because I could not add mp4 files to the editing tracks.  A window kept popping up saying that the disc/file may be full or write protected.  I changed the files so that I was able to edit the but the same message kept popping up.

Do you have any suggestions?  I really apprciate your help!  Thank you!

Hi

Yes, go the the Magix web site, and click on My Account top right of the page.

Log in with the email address and password you registered the software with, this will take you to your account pag, on the left select My Products.

You will now see a list of your registered products, serial numbers and a download link for the software.

Note when you have installed the program you will need to download all the extras - found under Help, Free downloads.
