MultiCam 4 tracks 1080p60 stuttered playback during editing

SO my issues is during multicam when i have 4 tracks running with 1080p60 the preview windows are extremely stuttering 3-4 second skipping of frames. I can do 3 tracks with no issues when I have reduce resolution and reduce frame rate on. this is my system specs core i5 4460 3.2ghz 8 gb of ram and a Radeon 7850 running Magix Movie Pro 2016 Premium

Just wondering what I may need to upgrade run 4 1080p60 tracks. If you can do this on your system can you give me your system specs. Thank you.

Hi

Some simple things you can try ticking or unticking in "Program Settings" to generally improve playback, if you have not already done so:-

Playback tab

  1. "Overload optimisation for realtime playback" - works better "off" on my i7 machine.
  2. "Instant cache refresh in Multicam mode" - less stuttering "off" according to the manual

Video/Audio tab

  1. Timeline - "Simple Video object display" - ticked.
  2. "Automatic Interlace Processing" - off - no point in trying to deinterlace something that is not interlaced.

Display options

  1. Preview in arranger > Video Mode - Select your Radeon card in the dropdown instead of the intel HD Graphics.

Import / Export

  1. Hardware Acceleration> "Hardware acceleration for playback if possible" - tick.

The other thing would be to create and use Proxies but with material from 4 cameras this would create a lot of additional data so may not be practical.

You do not say anything about your disc configuration but you should make sure your files are on an internal fast drive, preferably separate to C:, as there may be a bottleneck there.

Another trick worth trying is to temporarily reduce your Project "Movie Settings" resolution to SD ie 720 x 480 but keep the fps at 60. Change this back to Full HD when the Multicam cutting is done, prior to Titling and Export.

It may be worth checking in Task Manager as to whether your RAM is being maxed out. Increasing this to 16GB may help.

Ok tried all Scenestealer, suggestions, no improvements actually added some issues ( preview scenes were showing other cams. preview screen 1 and 2 would show cam 1, then 2 and 3 would show the same)

I am running video on a separate internal HDD data only(not SSD) from the C drive which has the program installed.

RAM is being 70-75% used, CPU at 80-90%.

All good here......which suggestion caused the problem?

Something else, I find if you have a low number entered in the Playback tab > "No. of tracks for parallel track optimisation" box the preview becomes very jerky unless you enter a higher number like 8 or 0, regardless of whether the box above it for "Instant cache refresh...." is ticked or not.

My rig shows about 4GB of ram and 50% of my CPU (see my Signature for system specs) is being used during Playback, with 4 tracks of 1080 50p.

Your system outperforms mine. listed below is my results. Hopefully some one doing 60p can confirm some specs as well. thank yo for your help.

Playback tab

"Overload optimisation for realtime playback" - MAde my preview extremely slow

"Instant cache refresh in Multicam mode" - less stuttering "off" according to the manual (no diff on or off)

Video/Audio tab

Timeline - "Simple Video object display" - ticked. (no Diff, but like that it makes the timeline load quicker)

"Automatic Interlace Processing" - off - no point in trying to deinterlace something that is not interlaced.(no Diff)

Display options

Preview in arranger > Video Mode - Select your Radeon card in the dropdown instead of the intel HD Graphics.

Import / Export (card is selected and standard modes work best)

Hardware Acceleration> "Hardware acceleration for playback if possible" - tick.(no Diff)

Great tip, Peter, thanks. I'd left mine at 4 when I moved up to this high end PC a year ago, unaware until your post here of its significance to jerkiness. At 8 I'm now getting much better playback of my large FRAPS AVIs.
