Hi

. . . . Windows 10. 32 bit with 64 bit capabilities . . . .

Do you mean you are on Windows 10 64 bit and running a 32 bit program on it, this is fully supported by the 64 bit OS, the reverse running a 64 bit program on 32 bit Windows is not possible.

What is the version number of Music Maker 2020 as found under Help, About?

What is your Windows version number? See this topic on how to find it.

According to the processor details its a 32 bit operating system x 64-based operating capacity. The version I'm trying to run is 2020 plus

@henryebdon

Then you are running a 32 bit version of Win 10.

Can you also answer John's other question, please?

Hi

Music Maker 2020 (MMM) was the last version of Music Maker to be 32 bit and was certainly stable and with few issues running on a 64 bit operating system (OS).

  1. What is your computer specification - see this topic for details of what is required, and my Signature as an example.

  2. Which Antivirus are you running?

  3. Is your Windows 10 fully updated?

  4. What issues are you having running the program?

I'm running windows 10pro. pentiumR dual-core CPU E5200@2.50ghz. RAM is 4.0gb(3.46 usable).32 bit operating system, x64-based processor. product ID 00330-800000-00000-AA011. fully updated. security is windows defender. problems are: failure to play or record intermittently. it stalls and then might start. The red marker bar quite often runs in advance of the music. and a number of sound patches fail to work. It also fails to install the update that is offered when opening the program, though it has been downloaded at least twice.

Hi

. . . .  failure to play or record intermittently. it stalls and then might start. The red marker bar quite often runs in advance of the music.  . . . .

This means your computer is failing to keep up with the processing requirements to give smooth playback and recording.

. . . . It also fails to install the update that is offered when opening the program, though it has been downloaded at least twice . . . .

That could be Windows Defender blocking the update.

Added: however if the update is to version 29.x.x.xx this will not install - it is the upgrade to Music Maker 2021 which is a 64 bit program which cannot run on Windows 10 32 bit.

We are missing some of the specification of your computer -

  1. hard disk size and free space

  2. graphics card and how much RAM it has.

  3. Audio card/chipset make/model

I do not think you can improve the recording and playback issues as your computer is the absolute minimum required to install both Windows 10 and also Music Maker 2020.

Just meeting the minimum specification does not guarantee it will run smoothly.

Hi

Thanks for the information on the hard drive - as I said above the computer is the bare minimum needed for the program, to get it to run smoothly I think a new computer is needed - preferably a quad core i5 or i7 processor with 8GB of RAM minimum.

Is this a refurbished PC, eg a HP Compaq dc5800?
