Music Maker versions and functionalities

pafigeminis wrote on 10/11/2012, 11:07 AM

I recently bought a notebook that came with Music Maker 17 installed. It seems that the main difference between versions is the sound packages, being the functionallity the same, so it would be cost/effective to just buy de CDs with soundpools and effects? Or, is there a huge and important difference between the sofware itself depending on the version? Thanks in advanced for your kind attention

There's no reason for you to rush out and purchase the most recent version.  MMM-17 is not that old and is as functional as any other version.  It would be better to work with MMM-17 until you've learned how to use it fully, and then perhaps consider moving to the latest version.  You can purchase any of the other soundpool collections you desire now and transfer them to any version you may purchase down the road.

Hi,

Music Maker 17 is now two versions old.  I have Music Maker 18 Premium and the current version is Music Maker 2013.  In previous versions, the biggest difference between the standard and premium versions were really the soundpools and fx.  The 2013 permium version now takes that to a new level with some increased functionality, but still it is focused on more sounds and instruments.  Go and have a look at what you get in the new version and right now the "Premium" version seems to be priced very agressively.

See if the features you want are included and price them out as add ons to your version and then determine if it is cost effective to purchase the new product.  If you want only a few of the new features or bonuses, I would bet that the answer would be yes.

This is just how I decide if I want to buy the new version or not.  Your timing is right to consider if you want to do this as the price of the Premium version seems to be the same as the basic verions (about $60).

Good Luck

Hi

Both Procyon and George are correct, however I have alarm bells ringing (not too loud )

My concern is if the notebook is powerful enough and has enough memory to cope with the software.  What is the make, model and specification of the notebook.

Hi

I can stop the alarm bells now .  The laptop should be more than enough to run the software properly.

I should explain that is was the word Notebook that gave me concern - a notebook and a laptop are different things most notably Notebooks tend to be lower specification compared to laptops and are not as powerful.

Why not download the trial version of Music maker 2013 from Magix register it and extend the trial period and see how you like it.

If you do like it then you can buy it direct from Magix and get a serial number which you then enter into the trial version to make become fully operational.
