Acid Music Studio versions released by Magix can be simply activated via the Magix serial number in your Magix customer account.

Be aware, that the registration of Acid Music Studio is bound to the customer account e-mail address. You cannot simply enter a different e-mail address. You either need to enter your old Sony customer account e-mail address or your Magix customer account e-mail address. If you want to change your e-mail address you need to log into your account at Magix.com and change the e-mail address in your account settings.

How do I activate my Vegas or Movie Studio version from the Sony or SCS era?Once the program is installed, launch the program like you are going to use it.  You will be prompted to enter your serial number and register online.  If this fails, click retry three times then click cancel.  You will be brought to a screen which has the serial and computer ID displayed and has a blank field to enter the activation code.  

Then open a web browser and do the following: 

1. Log into the MAGIX service center
2. Click "create activation code"
3. Type in the serial number for the SCS era software
4. Type in the computer ID provided by the SCS era software when prompted
5. Copy and paste the activation code provided into the field in the SCS era app prompt. 

When i do that I get the following:

Please note i have been using this for years and it was registered with Sony Creative.

When i click on the link to register i get the following:

A guidance which send me to Magix support from Magix help pages. When i open a ticket with support I get a template response to speak to Boris.

All I want is to use software I purchased. Getting the same template from help... does not help, at least engage with me to give guidance.

@SP. thanks so much for this... it is what I tried, but cannot get past the it's not registered > serial number used.

@kvarga74 Are your 100% sure that you are logged into the correct Sony customer account at Magix.com?

I checked the original email and it WAS @googlemail.com, not gmail.com... i got excited and re-registered.. then got the same error.

If you use the correct Sony customer account e-mail address and password at Magix.com you should automatically get logged into your old Sony account and you should be able to see your registered Sony products.

I assume that you no longer know the correct e-mail address. There isn't much you can do about this, except getting Magix support to find out which account it was. But good luck getting in contact with them.

It looks like Boris FX just released the new version of Acid Pro. I recommend you contact their customer support, send them your serial number and ask them if they can make you an offer to buy the upgrade for $90. Then you are no longer in a state of limbo.

We do not support the old licenses here. Your old license should show up here to make upgrading easier. The old version is still managed by magix.

Yes, Boris FX doesn't support the old version of Acid Music Studio. Anyway, you should be eligible for an upgrade to the newest version of Acid Pro. If you get the new version their support is responsible for you.

If Acid Music Studio isn't listed under 'My Products' it's not the e-mail address you used back in the Sony days. Maybe the license was sent to Googlemail, but you used a different e-mail address to register it.

So where is my products?

I see My profile... unable to see a my products section.
I have tried registering every email i ever had... only 4.. but still no joy on registering. though I have never seenthe my products.. i can put the serial number in and get a down load... but I cannot activate it.

@Karl-Varga It could be as simple as a typo in your e-mail address you made back in the day. Then you'll likely not find the correct account without the help of a human Magix support staff member. They could easily look up the serial number and then search the account it is registered to. But, in my experience, it's really hard to get in contact with a human support staff member since 2025, because they sadly did lay off a lot of employees.
