I have the exact same problem and I'm looking for this answer as well. The issue I think is with where the files are saved and downloaded to. The user profile cant access the hard drive s files to complete the run process. Try going into permissions in the mail file folder and grant you userprofile full control over the files. I might have workedfore me it my scream resolution is now another issue that's stopping me from running.

But I could be totally wrong so just take this as just my findings. Don't screw up you computer by listing to me lol

I have this problem now. It started when I deleted Videodeluxe.ini. Now nothing helps. Reinstalling and cleaning with Revo... can anyone help? When I start MEP 2016 it's stuck at "Checking Installation"

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

Why did you delete videodeluxe.ini? It is one of the programs core files. I believe its absence should cause MEP to recreate it, but clearly in your case it does not do so.

I suspect your only option may be to try to repair the installation, though the success rate of this procedure is not high!

Perhaps a better option is to completely uninstall MEP. This tutorial, although written to assist with problems following an update to Win 10, also contains vital information on how to ensure you completely remove the existing installation before attempting a reinstall.

Hi

Which videodeluxe.ini file did you deleted - there are normally three copies of it in 3 different locations.

2 with a file size of 1k, which should not deleted.

The third is located in the folder:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Program name

which can be deleted, will be 10k or greater in size. This deleted file will be recreated on starting MEP.

If you deleted all 3 ini files, or the wrong one, then a Repair should fix the issue, however as Jeff has suggested I think you should follow the tutorial and reinstall MEP.

@ Jeff

Deleting the correct ini file is a method of resetting MEP where the Reset settings to default fails to reset the program.

Hi John.

Thanks for the needed reminder about the multiple .ini files, and which one you can safely delete.

Thank you guys much! Before I've received your answers, I did another Windows upgrade to 1709 build 16294, reinstalled the GPU drivers and the program finally started. I will keep a link to this post for the future. Appreciate your help very much. Also MAGIX tech support was very competent (Thanks Angelo).
